Because ratings prove it. Whether you watch, read or listen to the "news," doesn't matter, they know what you want and that's what they give us. All for the almighty ratings, which translates into the almighty dollar.
You no watch - they no make money. Everything they do, everything ...is calculated to keep you watching. Remember when news anchors sat behind a desk ? notice now they have female anchors ( with beautiful long legs in designer shoes) sitting in tall chairs or short couches.
Now don't get me wrong, many if not all of these super model newscasters have some pretty impressive credentials such as lawyers and teachers plus they can read well from a teleprompter.
What about the body of the "news," the actual content being delivered ? Yes, they do tell us when a bridge collapses or a robbery occurs and local events are sometimes important to know about so we can stay abreast of things that do concern us. But what does it matter to you what Brittany Spears does ? Or Paris Hilton, Lindsey Lohan,Mel Gibson,Martha Stewart, Ophra...see how long this list could go on ?
Who's the flavor of the week now ? Oh! yeah Heath Ledger. He over-dosed on drugs! But he was famous, young, good-looking, and rich ....so we should really care more. No...imagine the time, energy and effort spent on this one person going instead to someone in your own life. Maybe someone that could really use your caring.
So what does all this mean and why should you even be aware of it ?
Because we as a people are coming up on what just might be THE most important Presidential election in the history of the greatest nation on earth. And what are we being fed ? Daily garbage skillfully designed to separate us right down the middle so we won't even notice it's happening. Oh they sprinkle in some pertinent facts but instead of black & white, they use the big box of crayons to give us the "news."
We are being manipulated straight into "The American Idol Election." Truth is there are many who will vote based on color and gender, charm and looks. I understand it's not easy to take the time and concentrate on the really important issues as opposed to going with your feelings.
Once this political race gets down to just two choices that's when the proverbial poop hits the fan or maybe better explained as the toxic dump hits the windmill. You can count on us being slapped with every non-important angle and tid-bit they can think of just to keep us ....well Stupid.
One last thought, for those that think America is bad or we're the problem in the world, as much of the left not only does but makes it a point to tell everyone so, look at history and imagine there was no United States of America.....even hollywood couldn't make a film that terrifying.
