Among the daily news stories around the net, I was shocked to read about a sexual assault investigation happening in South Texas concerning three kindergarten girls.

What was disturbing was that two of the girls were being investigated for sexually assaulting the third girl. These girls are at most six years old and they are doing things that warrant such an investigation.

According to Fox News Houston, two girls are accused of assaulting a third girl by placing glue in her vagina.

"She said two of the girls at school put glue in between her legs, in her private parts," the mother of the 6-year-old girl told the Fox News Houston. "Someone hurt my baby; she just seems different now."

The alleged attack took place inside a school bathroom, according to the report. Doctors confirmed the unidentified girl suffered vaginal trauma and that glue was present when they examined her, the station reported.

A spokeswoman for the Fort Bend school district issued a statement to the station: "We've investigated the situation and we continue to work with Child Protective Services. So far we haven't found anything to substantiate the claim."

Child Protective Services are investigating the situation. They will investigate all three families to see where the children accused might have even seen this action.

This story just made me sick to my stomach. Kindergarten-of all the places for this to have happened! Where was the teacher? Why would kids even be allowed to take glue into the bathroom?

When I taught fifth grade at a school, we were required to escort kids to and from the bathroom. They had to be monitored at all times. I would assume that kindergarteners would definitely have to be monitored.

Of course, we honestly do not know the whole story. The two girls accused have completely denied the allegations. I do think someone knows what really happen. If not, I am not sure I would not feel safe with the teacher in charge of those students to stay employed.

Kids are supposed to feel safe at school not have to fear other kids in the class. It has become sad that our society has grown so troublesome that kids commit these acts or acts that do leave other classmates in fear.

My son is in first grade and has spent many nights not wanting to go back to school because of students in his class. One student has such aggression problems that he once threw a chair across the room. The teacher has banned certain educational games when he is in the classroom because of a fear of him losing control. At class parties, she walks around on tiptoes afraid something might set him off again.

Our kids need to feel safe in school. I am not sure what the solution is in order for that to happen, but I know currently we seem to be failing our kids. The good news for this little girl is that she was able to transfer to a completely new district. Only time will tell if justice will prevail at the school.
