There are a lot of benefits to working at home. Moms can spend more time with their families, they can earn money while pregnant or if they have young children in the home, they save money on day care, they don't have to worry about spending money on gas or commuting to and from work, and families can earn two incomes without worrying about transportation issues, a great benefit for one vehicle families.

However, it may not take very long before work at home moms realize that balancing work and their relationships presents a bit of a struggle. Many work at home moms succumb to the pressures and find that if they don't take action, they risk losing precious time with their families, their job, or both. It isn't hard to understand how easy it may be for the separation between work and family life to become blurred. A woman may find that she spends so much time with the baby, her toddlers, or her older children that she begins to neglect her work responsibilities. Likewise, she may become very involved with her work projects and her husband and children begin to feel neglected. There is no doubt about it, for a woman to be a truly successful work at home mom; she must find the balance between work and relationships.

To begin with, a woman must set goals. She must keep a record of both her work and family responsibilities. She should also create a schedule. It will be nearly impossible to keep order and balance between work and relationships without a schedule. Once you make a schedule you will need to do your best to stick with it. However, if you fail to meet your daily goals, you shouldn't become too upset. Just do your best to meet your goals the next day. If you find that you continually fall behind, it may be a signal that you are trying to do too much. If this is the case, you should think about outsourcing your work or delegating tasks to other people. Many times people try to perform all of the work themselves, and don't want to admit that they just can't handle it all. Whether it is delegating work tasks or household responsibilities, you'll find that asking people for help is not a sign of weakness, but a strength that will help you remain balanced and focused.

It may seem a simple thing, but many women miss their schedules and deadlines due to a lack of organization. When you create a schedule that designates a specific time for work related tasks, you don't want to waste this time searching for pens, paper, lost contacts or missing files. By keeping your office organized and in order, you can make the best use of your time and accomplish your goals.

Just as it is important to keep your home office organized you should also keep your computer time organized. If you work from home with the Internet, it is important to make sure that you don't spend time online performing non-work related tasks. One of the biggest time wasters is email. Many work at home moms check their email repeatedly and waste valuable work time. By keeping your work and family life in order you'll find that keeping balance is simple.
