We all have things in life that propel us and move us forward. A new baby, a new grandchild, a new home, a new marriage, a new job, a new location, or a new relationship. These are many of the blessings in front of our eyes and make us strive to work towards our dreams, without letting anything or anyone get in our way. At times, we let outside stimuli fog our brains and throw us off track, but if we work hard to get our priorities back on track, we will do what we need to in order to succeed in our desired result. Especially when we have worked hard and have been honest in our endeavors.

Life is difficult much of the time, and it helps to have happy future plans to push us ahead and give us hope for happiness. These plans give us incentive to persevere and take care of our daily lives. Housework and errands and running around, or going off to work, are less invasive when we have a happy home to go to, and kids and grandkids and animals and nature, and beauty. Life is not easy, I think we all know that. If we can share it with a family we love, it makes everything we do well worth it. There is no price you can put on raising a family and taking care of a home. Those were the carrots dangling in the distance, that have kept me going for the past twenty three years.

Watching my kids go from babies to teenagers and now adults, has been gratifying. A great deal of work that never seems to stop, but gratifying nonetheless. A mom is always a mom, no matter how old her kids are. If my mom was still alive, I'd still be leaning on her for guidance and advice, at fifty one. Now, I do it spiritually, I have no doubt she is still involved with my life, and looking out for me. I still need her, and keep her and my father's spirits alive in my life. I know my father is still protecting me. And I am still protecting and guiding my kids. I look forward to all the happiness these young adults will bring to my table.

A relationship that has gotten better and better and stronger and stronger, is another energy that keeps me going, and makes me happy. Everything dangling right in front of my eyes, pushing me onward and making me stronger in my resolve. My little malti poo adds so much joy and happiness to our home, he was definitely the right choice two years ago. He fills the house with positive energy, and makes everyone happy. I look forward to every nice day that I can sit on my front porch and watch nature going about it's business as I gratefully watch it's movements.

We all need dreams and hopes to get us through our daily routines and keep our positive energy flowing. There are ups and downs and ins and outs, but these are mixed in with happy times, as well. The key, I think, is to learn how to deal with the negative, and enjoy the positive. The negative is menial compared to the positive. My life has a purpose, and I will do my best to fulfill that purpose. I will enjoy my partner, my kids, grandkids, my dog, my home, my friends, and my life. I have earned that right, and I will gladly accept it as being my right. I work very hard on my relationships and my home, I think I have proven myself to be the recipient of some happiness. That will depend on how I live my life, but with all the positive dreams ahead of me, I am hopeful and excited for the future.

Susan Thom is the mother of three children, two sons, 17 and 21, and a daughter 22. Writing calms her, and gives her a place to go. By herself! Clears the head and gets it out. She lives in a rural area, with a lake and mountains, her son and her partner, and has loved writing since she was a child.

She certainly hopes you enjoy her take on life, and her style of communicating that in stories.

She has been on a journey of self discovery for twenty years, and has learned many things about the human mind, and how to maintain some semblance of calm and peace within.

If someone reads one of her stories, and relates to her feelings, and maybe gets a suggestion on how she dealt with them in a positive way, that would be the ultimate gift of her writing.

Sus, another well written uplifting article. Good job! I have a great deal of respect for my mother, too. We are celebrating her 80th birthday the 17th of this month. The 5 of us, her direct offspring, are dropping everything and meeting in our hometown, Borger, TX to help her celebrate.

My daughter made a comment to me today that made me realize that no matter when I cross over, my voice will still be in her head with statements like: "Why not fold towels while you're watching tv?" or "We all have to do things we don't like doing. Its life. So, just do it, then you don't have to dread it anymore."

hi suzi,
ah, yes, all the sayings i have just far enough within my brain for me to reach them, from years of my mother drilling them into my head, on purpose. the 5 of you are truly blessed, as is your mother. my mom passed away at 59. i hope you have a birthday celebration that is worthy of years of fond memories. kiss your mom as much as you can,
best regards,
sue
