George Bush got elected, allegedly, the first time in 2000. OK, that's one mistake but unfortunately he got elected again. What's that about being fooled twice George? "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on . . . shame on you. Fool me . . . you can't get fooled again." After the second term, Americans repeated Bush's blunder by saying "Fool me once, shame on . . . shame on you. Fool me . . . you can't get fooled again." That's right, they didn't get it right either. The majority blundered right along with Bush. Fool you once, shame on you, fool you twice, blame Mr. Bush, Mr. and Mrs. American.

Now the sad thing is that there were so many Republicans following him blindly because of party allegiance. I thought this was a free country? Founded on one's ability to think independently and freely, but alas that's not always true. Being a Republican myself, I've even received literature berating me for going against "party policy." How sad is that, Mr. and Mrs. Communist?

The bottom line? We really, really, really have to think for ourselves, clearly, logically, rationally, outside of any party bullying and cajoling. It's nuts to think that we've spent so many lives and years obtaining independence when all we've gained is co-dependence of thought, word, action, and deed. Good God man and woman, stand up for your ideas and ideals.

This brings me to McCain. I don't understand, once again (see 8-year Bush blunder), why people insist on making such heinous mistakes. Why McCain? A couple I know, who aren't political, said that in watching him during the debate or seeing him any time gave them the heebee jeevees. Why? Well, what's in his heart is certainly evident and visible on his sleeve. Read on.

"The truth is that McCain is the candidate we should most fear," writes Hari, a columnist for The Independent in Britain , in an article that appeared in the Seattle Post-Intelligencer . "Not only is he to the right of Bush on a whole range of subjects, he is also the Republican candidate most likely to dispense with Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama ."

Hari writes of McCain: "Rage seems to be at the core of his personality. Describing his own childhood, McCain has written: At the smallest provocation I would go off into a mad frenzy, and then suddenly crash to the floor unconscious. When I got angry I held my breath until I blacked out.'"

"To give a brief smorgasbord of his views: At a recent rally, he sang 'bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb-bomb Iran ,' to the tune of the Beach Boys' Barbara Ann.' He says North Korea should be threatened with extinction."

Man, during the Republican debate in Simi Valley, I was thankful for that pencil in his hand, the only thing keeping him from wrapping a mit around Romney's neck.

But let's get back to our analysis. Now I guess there may be a general fear of Mormons, or at least considerable gross misunderstanding, so Romney is out, and Huckabee is so far behind he'd need a Bush transplant to catch up. So it looks like McCain., But please, do us all a favor, if you don't like a particular candidate don't vote for him or her just because you feel you'll waste a vote anywhere else.

But then again, if you really want to waste a vote, hell, cast it for Eli Manning, at least he can take mental and physical hits (Ever try playing for a professional team in New York? By comprison, DC's a piece of cake). Or maybe even Condoleezza Rice or Nancy Pelosi? Maybe a good shot of estrogen is what this country needs. After all, how many women have started a war? Or maybe even John Kerry, and after he's elected Romney can take his place, and then he can sneak back in as governor. Come on! he was doing such a good job there. Let's help the guy out. No? OK, how about Mariah Carey? She's easy on the eyes and sings a much nicer tune than all the candidates combined.

Bottom line? I don't have the answer and things don't look good. Heaven help us! Vote on America! Vote on!

Jeff,
Well done, Jeff. John McCain is from my home state and I know for a fact that he has a horrible temper. The Governor of the state wants nothing to do with him because of his rage and anger. You are also right in indicating that he is more conservative than Bush. People don't realize his true colors. Thanks. Be well

James,

Yes, being conservative is great, but extreme in any catagory makes for serious scary.
Thanks for the comment.

I do believe he is agreat hero impacted by his horrible experiences in Nam and at the hands of the communists. He seems fixated on anyone that is or could be a potential enemy and who could fault him. Like Churchill he may be a good wartime leader, but the question is what about the rest? As for me his position on illegal workers and his avoiding any comments concerning this aspect, if I may paraphrase, I now understand build the fence first and worry about the rest later, implies no change in that ideology and therefore no change in my vote. Best wishes. RTM

Robert,

Good points, but the most telling statement is "the question . . . about the rest." I only ask that people make a thorough analysis . . . thorough . . . before they vote. Thanks for the thoughtful reply.

hi jeff,
very well written article, and i learned some things while reading.
disturbing, but reality, and i did learn. thanks for sharing and providing good information.
i'm so amazed that we are in a part of History that will be written, either the first woman President, or the first black president. or president and vice president, now that would be some knowledge, in my opinion.
best regards,
sue

True. Contrary to the scared right, I'd love to see how a woman would do in the White House, Democrat or Republican (maybe Condoleezza can get a campaign together quick for the Republicans). It's interesting, I was initially influenced by Democrats (my parents), when I came of age I signed on as an Independent (thought politics sucked, so I took the middle ground), then I switched to Republican, but I'm not so sure I'm happy there either. At least I get to vote in the primaries. I don't know, what's next? Green Party? Constitution Party? Family Values Party? (there's a good one!), Libertarian? Kind of like religion with all those different groups and sub-groups, huh? Religion and politics . . . They do serve a purpose for the bored or those who like to stir up some dirt. I'm not much for dirt stirring, but I do NOT like sheep or herd followers--non-thinkers--therefore I can't keep quite. Well, have a good one and talk to you soon.

Yes, your article was helpful in that it made me detest John McCain more than I did before I read it. First, he wants us in Iraq for the next 100 years. That way none of us or our children, or their children will be around. They will be dead one way or the other. Second, he wants to bomb Iran. Why doesn't he just bomb all of his enemies and get it over with once and for all. That's how I feel he is headed. Or does he have a different death sentance for Korea? Maybe a little Agent Orange or Skunk Gas would do the trick. So, on to the equality of man, ha ha ha. You feel a shot of estrogen might help the country, so that leaves Hillary out. Her estrogen level is over the hill. Oprah might be a good choice. At least we can have her team to give us pep talks when our spirits are low. Condaleeza seems to have great diplomatic presence, and she doesn't take disrespect from anyone. Oh, the most comedic part of your blurb is the ad right at the bottom: John McCain for President - Make A Donation Today. I have a donation for John, my daily constitutional. Thanks for your great info, Jeannie Walker

Jeannie,

Thanks for the comments. I'm constantly amazed by some conservatives who want to stay in Iraq. It doesn't make any sense. Military and non-military experts have advised Bush to get out. It's not practical and costly--lives and money. The best war against terrorism, most cost effective and practical, is to protect our boarders and to keep intelligence alive and well abroad. We've thwarted many possible attacks by doing so. Going to war abroad against terrorism by conventional means is like trying to kill only the cockroach resting in a nest of ants with a hand grenade. Thanks again for your comments.

Great article for the California voters. US is the most powerful country in the world in Military, but US is not the only country that has Nuclear weapons. With the power of today Nuclear bombs capable of destroying the earth. So, is it matter who is the first to press the buttons? We are living in a nuclear age. Wars is ours enemy and US is definitely don't need another war. We need a strong economy to fight again ours enemy all around the world. Like one of the business Japanese man whom I met during the business trip to Japan. He said, "Yes... We lost the war to the US, but we have won the economic war." We need to focus on economics's strenght not the war. Yes, we do need a strong candidate that can handle both, but we don't need one to start another war. And John Mc. Cain is the candidate seems to fit well in this character... "Shoot first, talk later" and for sure he will take care all business in the same ways... The military ways. Yes, he is the war hero to all of us. But would you put a military man into power and possibly avoid another war? We need change for the better world, for the better America. It's time for us to show to the world that we are still the best without the gun.

Anthony,

Yes, sometimes war is necessary but we don't need to go looking for fights. (See my comments to Jeannie above). Thanks for commenting.
