We all want our skin to be beautiful. Unfortunately many do now know or if they have the products do not know the correct way to use them to keep their skin looking its best. Today, many of the magazines are beginning to explain, especially to the younger readers the correct methods and, if you are making your purchase at a major department store, you can always ask the person behind the counter. The majority of larger cosmetic companies train their personnel in the correct use of their products.
The First Step Is To Determine Your Skin Type
- To begin any skin care routine, you must know what type of skin you have. If you have recurring blackheads or pimples and your skin is shinny, you are probably dealing with oily skin.
- If your face seems to dry out and get flaky at the end of the day, you may be dealing with dry skin.
- If you don't seem to have any particular problems, but want to make and keep your skin healthy as possible, then you probably have normal skin.
- If certain areas seem oily or dry, you may have what is commonly known as combination skin.
- As we mature, our face also changes, we tend to develop a few more lines, wrinkles and your skin may appear to sag.
Secondly, Always Test Products You Want To Use
Once you know your skin type, get as much information about your type as possible, along with the best products for your particular skin type.
Many products say they can be used by all skin types, and with a few, this may be true. However, many cosmetic companies try products for specific skin types. Unfortunately sometimes the best way to find the product best for you is trial and error. I'm sure we all have lipsticks or make-up, which we thought looked great on the model or in a photo, simply did not look right on us.
The best trial and error method is to get samples. This way, if the product does not work for you or not as good as you hoped it would, you haven't lost any money. But, once you do find the right products for your skin try, if financially possible, to get the complete skin care regimen for your particular skin type. By using their skin regimens of day and night creams, exfoliating and moisturizers, toners, etc, you will be able to keep your skin looking its best.
Third, Get All the Skin Care Information that you can really use
No matter what skin type you have, the best course of daily cleaning for your skin will consist of a three-step program including cleansing, toning and moisturizing. Again, the best method is to use products from the same company, since they are designed to work effectively when used together.
- Cleansing is important for removing the impurities of the day or night, and preparing your skin for toning.
- Toning is done to refresh your skin and close the pores that may have opened while cleansing
- Moisturizing is important for all skin types as well, even if you have oily skin. Those with oily skin may be able to find a light moisturizer. Some moisturizers are even medicated to prevent breakouts while softening skin.
Two of the most important rules are:
- Wear a sunscreen and a hat when you go out in the summer sun. The sun can really dry out your skin.
- Don't forget to wear extra moisturizer during the winter months to combat dry heat and wind.
Once you know good basic skin care information your skin can have and will keep that beautiful, healthy glow.
