Contrary to popular belief white wine goes great with lamb.  Just as lamb is not for everyone the same is true for red wine.  For those of you who enjoy lamb we want to provide you with the perfect white wine pairing for your next lamb meal.  In this article we will go through the five most popular wines and give you our perfect pairing wine recommendations.

SAUVIGNON BLANC - A snappy, bold and fresh Sauvignon Blanc often has green herbal flavors and a light to medium body. Great with salads, dishes that have lots of green herbs, and tangy cheese such as goat cheese. Salads with lamb or dishes such as American Lamb and Goat Cheese Pizza with Rosemary and Sun Dried Tomatoes are ideal.

PINOT GRIS/PINOT GRIGIO - Light bodied with clean, light, citrusy flavors, Pinot Gris

(sometimes known as Pinot Grigio) is a good choice with light dishes. Roast lamb sandwich with a lemon yogurt dressing would be a terrific partner as would a light pasta dish made with American Lamb, fresh vegetables and extra virgin olive oil.

CHARDONNAY - Chardonnay is medium to full bodied with rich vanilla, custard, butterscotch and oak flavors. Characterized as a "big" white it can go with a hearty dish such as lamb shoulder roast with roasted root vegetables.

RIESLING - Elegant, crisp, and super fruity, Riesling is a highly flexible partner for many types of dishes - especially those that incorporate a lot of aromatic ingredients like lemongrass, chiles, soy sauce and ginger. Asian-inspired lamb stir frys, Thai-inspired lamb salads, Moroccan lamb kabobs and even fusion wraps made with roasted or ground lamb are all potential Riesling partners.

GEWURZTRAMINER- Lanolin-smooth and highly spicy, Gewurztraminer is a dramatic white wine reminiscent of litchis, gingerbread and jasmine. Because of its boldness, it works well with bold dishes. Curried lamb stew is a smash with Gewurztraminer.

That concludes our white wine pairing recommendations.  To get specific lamb recipes and to find the best All-Natural American Lamb go to www.allnaturallamb.com.  It is my sincere hope that this will make your next celebration wonderful.
