I would like to hear your views on this but here is what I think:

Better

We have an array of things available to us today. With technology on the rise, we are on the brink of some really awesome breakthroughs that make you think we were living in the movies. There have been advances in the health care industry, even if it seems to be going downward. Many people are getting cured of cancer and other diseases which was impossible a few decades ago. We have the Internet which allows us to do research on any topic we want. Things are faster, more accessible, and lots of fun. There are more discoveries as we get closer to landing on Mars and other planets and moons.

Worse

Wars and rumors of wars are all around us…in Afghanistan, Iraq, and possibly other countries in the near future. There are wars in the schools, the streets, the homes, and in the government. There was a school shooting on Valentine's Day, a deadly street car race last night, domestic violence in lots of homes, and corruption in the government.

In the past few years, we have seen dramatic changes in the weather system with Katrina, the Tsunami in Sri Lanka, 4 hurricanes in a matter of weeks over the state of Florida, drought in the southern states, fires in and around the Los Angeles area and elsewhere, floods, etc. This all takes a toll on the whole of society.

We are constantly dependent of other countries in regards to oil and cheap labor. Both of which I disagree with whole-heartedly. We have the natural resources that we need in North America but it is "cheaper" to go into other countries and make sure that we make them rich by buying their products instead of creating our own.

I understand that charity is a very good thing, especially to "third-world" countries as they call them, but giving charity should not mean that we neglect our own country.

Being an American, I feel very strongly about the US Government. I think that if the government would handle their finances like Dave Ramsey teaches people, then we would have a healthy nation…and not be in debt up to our eyeballs!

If we would use Dave Ramsey's 4 wall principle first before anything else, then we would be doing good.

Wall 1: Food   Wall 2: Clothing    Wall 3: Shelter & Utilities   Wall 4: Transportation

What if every person in the country had the money to be fed 3 meals a day, be clothed warmly, had a roof over their head and were able to pay for the phone and heating, and then have a means of getting to their job? Would that not change the whole of society today?

What if they did away with the Welfare system altogether and bring the jobs that were sent overseas back to this country, every person would have a job to go to.

But no…everything is about the almighty $$$. It is cheaper to have people on the welfare system then for them to have a job. How backwards is that?!?

Furthermore, where is God in all of this? A majority of society wants nothing to do with God because all they want is money. Well…when you die…you can't take it with you.

Is it just me or is anyone else seeing this?

Jennifer Johnson is a Christian who wants to bring truth and knowledge of Jesus Christ to the world, to expose the wiles of the enemy, to worship our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and to stand on the firm foundation of God’s Word. She is a counselor of sorts as she is not a doctor and does not have a degree but she is one who wants to offer herself, based upon God’s Word and her painful experiences, to those in need of spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial healing.

yes, this article was very helpful to me. I have to write an essay about this subject in my sociology class. It gave me different perspectives about the better or worse controversies.
Thanks!!!

you have a couple good points, but you didn't begin to cover half of what is bad. think of the overburdened courts and jails and how unfair the justice system is. in canada it is 5-10 years for a drug trafficking charge but only 2-4 years for molesting a child, which ruins many more lives than just the child.
