That's right. The Heather Ledger Doll.. Ok, Action Figure for those of you who don't buy dolls, is hitting the market. The Joker Action figure, with Heath in plastic is being sold in stores to commemorate the newest Batman Sega Movie, the Dark Prince.
The action figure is 6 inches, and two versions of the doll are scheduled to hit the stores this May. The dolls are quite a close likeness to Heath Ledger, and would be a great collectors item for those Batman Action Figure Doll Collectors. It's been reported that one of the Joker action figures will be holding a knife, and the other a gun.
They are saying that this Halloween, there will also be Joker, Dark Knight, Heath Ledger masks, to go along with the Joker Costume, coming out this October.
It is unconfirmed what stores will be selling the action figure, and where you can go to preorder your Heath Ledger, Dark Knight Action Figure, but I did a little digging, and found a really cool picture of the doll, and the link is at the bottom of this article.
Warner Bros. is being very respectful of Heath Ledger, and his family as they push ahead with their ad campaigns, and the traditional action figure dolls, will go ahead as scheduled. There is a link at the bottom of this article, where you can view a preview of the movie The Dark Knight, as well they have a heart-felt tribute toward the loss of such a fine actor. They have a few sites out there with a tribute to Heath Ledger, but this one seems to be the most official. Warner Bros. is doing a fantastic job at keeping the integrity of the movie intact, despite the circumstances.
According to reports, in the New York Post, Heath Ledger's family is fully supportive of Mattel for releasing the Action Doll of the Joker, and is also backing Warner Bros. on any advertisement they have in place for the movie of Batman.
"Heath was very proud of his work in the film, and his family is aware and supportive of Warner Bros., and its partner's plans for the movie," a family spokesman was reported to tell the New York Post.
Heath Ledger's sudden death occurred in January of this year, in his New York City apartment, from a bad mixture of prescription drugs. There was no foul play indicated, and stress related issues, along with a bout of pneumonia, were contributers.
