Ok, now it is politically incorrect to wish someone Merry Christmas or Happy Hanukkah. We are supposed to say season's greetings, wouldn't want to make the atheists feel insecure since they have no holiday. Oops, forgot April Fools Day.
But now, for Santa not to say "Ho, Ho, Ho," it might offend women! Come on folks, don't you think we are beginning to carry this political correctness thing a little to far?
"Ho, Ho, Ho," is a part of the holiday season. Am I offended by some guy wearing a costume, playing a part, of course not!
If women were so offended by the Ho word, then why did they not come out and protest in numbers when rappers were saying it in just about every song? No instead these rappers sold millions of copies and became overnight millionaires, celebrities, etc., and have main streamed into regular society and become multi-millionairs if not billionaires.
First of all, not every woman makes her living that way. Those ladies have been around since the beginning of time, so why get offended now? When a woman had an affair with high-ranking politician is she called by that name? No, instead, she has her fifteen minutes of fame.
Do you protest when you see scantly clad women, wrapping themselves around men, or dancing suggestively in a musical video?
So, if you really want to protest, how about genocide, mental health institution where people are caged up daily, murder of innocent people by suicide bombers, totalitarian governments, the high price of fossil fuel, the shabby treatment of our elderly, the millions the p harmaceutical companies are getting selling drugs before they have really been tested, etc, etc, etc.
There are so many worthy causes we can protest, which we don't. Since it's not in our town or backyard, we say someone should do something about it, but what can I/we do? And we go on with our lives.
Maybe it's time we took a closer look and take stock of the really important things we can change. To paraphrase the song "Wake Up Everybody," nit-picking the small things will not change the bigger problems.
Just a personal Thought!
