Laxatives were initially popular for curing constipation. Nowadays, these laxatives are becoming the talk of the town especially among dieters, who used them as another form of weight loss supplement. Here, we will recommend to you Top 5 weight loss laxatives, which you might want to consider on purchasing in order to tackle the weight problem.

Basically, all 5 of these weight loss laxatives functions the same way. What these laxatives do is that upon consumption, it swells up the intestines, and increases the volume of your stools. It will then cause the bowel to move away and push the stools out. This would then result in rapid weight loss.

There is an array of laxatives available over the counter and they come in various forms too. Some are tablets, liquids, powders, granules, chewing gum, chocolate-flavored wafers and amazingly even caramels! The more common types include lubricants, stool softeners, bulk-forming products and stimulant laxatives.

#1 Slimming Tea The most popular laxative product available in the market takes the form of tea. These form of laxatives are very affordable. Slimming tea and dieter's tea are some out of the many laxative teas that is highly recommended. Do try to choose one that is made up of herbal products, so that it can help to ensure a healthier body!

#2 Saline laxatives

Saline laxatives contain ions such as sulfate, phosphate and magnesium, which cannot be absorbed. As such, these ions stay in the colon and draws water, causing the stool to soften. Milk of magnesia and Epsom salts are some of the few saline laxatives that are available in pharmacies. Epsom salts contains more magnesium sulfate, hence it is a better laxative as compared to the latter.

#3 Lubricant laxatives

Lubricant laxatives contain mineral oil, which stays in the intestine. It then coats the stool particles. This prevents water from leaving the stool, hence resulting in a softer stool.

#4 Emollient laxatives aka stool softeners

Docusate is found in the stool softeners. It is a wetting agent that aids in the penetration of water in the colon and it mix with the stool. Docusate takes around a week or two before it shows results. This form of laxative is considered as one of the safest laxatives as compared to others.

#5 Hyperosmolar laxatives

Just like most laxatives, the hyperosmolar laxatives results in stool softening. Hyperosmolar laxatives cannot be absorbed and digested. This causes them to remain in the colon and retain the water upon consumption. Some examples of the hyperosmolar laxatives include lactulose and sorbitol. These are relatively safe but usually, they are only available as prescribed by the doctor.

Overall, the use of laxatives for weight loss is not highly recommended. This is due to the unhealthy side effects that these laxatives can cause. But if you really wish to try them, do consult your doctor or physician about the best and safest laxatives that are available.

That was the dumbest thing I've ever read. Almost all weight loss in regards to laxatives is due to water loss, literally. It will only leave a person with dehydration, a cramped stomach and, if usage is continued over extended periods of time (laxative abuse), electrolyte defeciences, constipation, malabsorption, reduced bowel deficiency, intestinal bleeding, and many other undesirable side effects. It is also a popular form of purging with eating disordered individuals, regardless of the fact that no calories are being discharged, as digestion has already taken place at this point. Promoting laxatives as a weight loss option is irresponsible, potentially harmful, and unprofessional.
