Beauty .. Something mankind has strived for since we began to walk upright. Humans we see today are a product of selective genetics. We chose to mate with the best looking and strongest, to insure our children would inherit the best traits possible.
Today's advertising has made us to believe that we can obtain the beauty of Cleopatra or Helen of Troy by using certain high named products.
We can achieve those traits with modern science and medicine. Quite often we can find products which we think will help us to be more beautiful right over the counter at our supermarket, drug, discount and dollar store.
But, once in that facial and/or make-up department, when you see the price they are asking for their "miracle" product, have you walked away because you felt it was more than you could afford? Or, how many times have you seen an item you wanted, but when you tried to read the list of ingredients, which seemed to be in an unknown language which you can't pronounce or understand, you put it back?
What would you do if I were to tell you that you could have many of the same type of items by making them yourself, at home, without all the chemicals, which many commercial products contain?
Did you know that the shelves in your grocery, health food store and your own kitchen contain many products that will help you and your family?
Did you know?

1. Did you know that if you added capsicum (hot pepper) to olive oil, let them sit for a couple of days to blend, you have one of the best topical ointments for arthritis?

At one time in our history, we relied entirely on plant and natural items to restore and heal us.
What we don't need are mineral oil and petroleum jelly as a part of our facial/body care, although the manufacturers would like us to believe we can't live without their product. These particular products were the "left over" from the manufacturing of oil and gasoline. Not natural, but good advertising has made us believe that they are the best products on the planet earth.
In the "olden" days, it was the men who were the leaders of fashion. Men wore makeup during the Renaissance, often wore more elaborate costumes than women. As in nature, where the Peacock has the brilliant feathers, the males of the species often outshone the women.
Today, men are beginning to take as much care of their face as are women. No longer do they go in for a shave and manicure. Today, men are having cosmetic surgery, taking weekend trips to spas and spending almost as much on their skin care product as women.
As in all wars, the best offense is defense, and the constant battle of trying to retain our youthful look is war!.
Read up, learn and see what you can do for you, yourself. Find out what skin type you have, then you can determine for yourself which products are good for you.
Learning your skin type is the first line of defense. Once you have determined what type of skin you have, you can then buy and/or make the product you feel works best not only for your face but your entire body.
If you have dry skin, don't use products that have alcohol, it only dries your skin out more. If you have oily skin, use lighter products. Teens, remember that heavier the make up, the older and tired your skin will look. A little goes a long way, and will help you keep that fresh glow you have.
Mature skin, look for those which are for your skin; and remember, if you are in your late 50's or 60's there is just so much plastic surgery, facial reconstruction or make up you can use. Sometimes less is best, be proud you have reached this stage of your life for so many we knew have not.
Yep, easier said than done, but the real make up secret is learning to like you! That imparts an inner glow, which no make up can compete with.
Sometimes," what we need" is right under our noses, we just have to look and recognize it.
