Peace in the valley is a hymn that is often sung in church choirs. However, I came across it on one of Johnny Cash's albums. I don't attend church services but I like to listen to this song every now and then, it has a soothing affect on me. The song can be found on many of his albums, he has an album titled "Just as I am" which is composed entirely of hymns.
He sang this song at San Quentin to prisoners in the 60s. He believed most prisoners were working for the Lord back then. In the 3rd. Stanza of this song when he sings "And I'll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes" he definitely touched the souls of many a hardened criminal
Album "Just as I am"
I'm presenting the lyrics to the song here.
Oh well, I'm tired and so weary But I must go alone Till the lord comes and calls, calls me away, oh yes Well the morning's so bright And the lamp is alight And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes
There will be peace in the valley for me, some day There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray There'll be no sadness, no sorrow No trouble, trouble I see There will be peace in the valley for me, for me
Well the bear will be gentle And the wolves will be tame And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes And the beasts from the wild Shall be lit by a child And I'll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes
There will be peace in the valley for me, some day There will be peace in the valley for me, dear Lord I pray There'll be no sadness, no sorrow No trouble, trouble I see There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Yes, I don’t see any difference between the religions and the experiences that Johnny Cash sings about. One person pictures Jesus and God, another pictures Allah, another pictures Krishna, and a meditator may not picture anything at all and go even deeper after the experience with no images stopping the process. Many ways to God, ay? I wish more people would understand these things. I know you do. It would be a better, more peaceful world.

Yes e, there are many pathways leading to God. Only we must beware we don't step on any of the mines hidden and laid out along the way. Respond to this comment

hi david... 2002 CD Johnny Cash American IV: the man comes around
[Originally by Nine Inch Nails]
I hurt myself today
To see if I still feel
I focus on the pain
The only thing that's real
The needle tears a hole
The old familiar sting
Try to kill it all away
But I remember everything
[Chorus:]
What have I become
My sweetest friend
Everyone I know goes away
In the end
And you could have it all
My empire of dirt
I will let you down
I will make you hurt
I wear this crown of thorns
Upon my liar's chair
Full of broken thoughts
I cannot repair
Beneath the stains of time
The feelings disappear
You are someone else
I am still right here
(chorus)
my best,
sue
