Whether we are willing to admit it or not, it is natural for human beings to perpetually admire and envy successful people. Throughout our lives, we are constantly exposed to self-confident and successful people, either in person or through the media. We often view them as superhuman creatures or just extremely lucky individuals who seem to always have good fortune at their fingertips. What most people don't realize is the fact that success and confidence can easily be obtained via the simple art of modeling or behavior duplication. This is where we introduce you to the "Pocket Guru".

Traditionally, a "guru" is a teacher of either Buddhism, Hinduism, or Sikhism. In general usage, the term is used to describe a teacher, guide, mentor, or trusted advisor, as well as a person of great knowledge or skill in an area of expertise. If our goal is to become more confident and successful in life, then we must assign ourselves to find a personal guru, or role model, whose thoughts and actions can help to make our lives more meaningful. Can you think of someone whose philosophies or accomplishments could help you to boost your drive to meet your goals? If you can, then you are on your way to gaining more control of your life!

Think of a particular individual who had achieved success only after dealing with hard luck first. Helen Keller had to meet with many physical challenges before becoming a great author, activist, and lecturer before Ulysses S. Grant became an outstanding Union general during the American Civil War and later became President of The United States, he endured many occupational failures and disappointments Thomas Edison, the remarkable inventor, failed many times before he created the first light bulb. Any of these people would make a fantastic guru for you. A guru doesn't even have to be someone famous or historical. The person could be a former teacher, grandparent, coach, or friend who has tasted good times after hard work. Perhaps your Aunt Vicky is an accomplished entrepreneur who always taught you that one can only do well in business if she or he is willing to exercise self-confidence while facing financial setbacks along the way. This special aunt would make a excellent guru. Maybe your father was a remarkable airline pilot before he retired, and he always taught you that pilots can only become good flyers after lots of practice, coupled with a strong belief that anything is possible with self-confidence. Dad could be your selected guru.

After you choose a special person that interests you, research fascinating details about the individual's life. Afterwards, scribble down a brief description of a moment in this person's life when she or he had met success only after facing challenges. Read this brief description at least once a day. Another good idea would be to find an inspiring quotation of the person selected and make a small flyer out of it. Place either the descriptive note or inspirational flyer on your refrigerator, office desk, bulletin board, or bathroom mirror - anywhere that will allow you to see it on a regular basis. Keep a tiny copy of your material in your purse, wallet, or pocket, and make sure that you read what you have written down every day. No excuses! This is how we came up with the term "Pocket Guru". The powerful effects of the lessons that you can learn from your guru can be as close to you as a pocket. It's easy access to a confidence-building tool!

Through your Pocket Guru, you will learn how to be self-motivated, face problems bravely, and develop positive habits. If you invest some time into learning more about the person that you have chosen, their personal journeys, fears, triumphs, tragedies, challenges and pitfalls will be revealed to you. By looking into the life of your Pocket Guru, you will discover that extremely successful people are not divine creatures they’re just simple human beings, with real flesh and blood, feelings and emotions. Their self-confidence and determination to meet challenges head-on is what makes the difference.

Through their inspirational quotes and stories, the special individual that you choose to be a "Pocket Guru" will provide valuable methods, examples, and techniques that will help you to take complete charge of your life. By learning and focusing upon the lessons learned by your Pocket Guru, you will be able to boost your self-confidence and develop a mighty ability to stay focused on a goal until it is achieved. If you stick with the plan on a daily basis, you will soon begin to see an amazing change in your personal and professional lives.

Always remember, no matter what your goals or aspirations may be, nothing can stand in your way if you are armed with the proper tools to help you reach your destination. Let your brilliant and successful "Pocket Guru" show you the way! Go for it!
