Ask yourself. Is this the business that you want to get into? If you have a knack for talking and communicating well with all sorts of people and different languages this could be your best job. Why? Being a basketball agent requires first a good knowledge and understanding of the sport. Also, all news and information pertaining to basketball leagues and standings is an important aspect as well. Finally, due this information that you have obtained you will be better able to serve many different clients where their position is most needed and comfortable.

For most new agents the most common problems is finding players who will put trust in them. Most basketball athletes and people in general like to go on more than intuition but of demonstration of other players who have worked with this particular agent. As in most employment jobs, you are hired after extensive background check and referral calls from the potential employer. The same is applied for basketball agents who seek the work from college basketball players, semi-professional and professional basketball players.

Although, becoming an agent is not something everyone should apply to become because of its difficulties, it is a rewarding job if you like to help people. Imagining that you have helped a player find a job worthy of their skills and in turn helping a team win more games, it is a win-win situation on all levels. To become a basketball agent there are several requirements which you need to do to become successful.

1.    Enroll in a sports consulting course
2.    Read all available material that you can
3.    Make contact with other basketball agents in the business
4.    Become certified in all leagues which pertain to your goals (NBA,WNBA, FIBA)
5.    Learn to communicate with many types of people (ex. Learn a second language)

Those are my top 5 quick examples that will lead you to finding your dream job as an basketball agent. Imagine yourself as a Jerry McGuire. It is a great feeling in the end.
