This article is about how to deal with the declining job market and the economy in the United States.

Just what do you think about Companies in America saying "where are all the workers?" while all the time outsourcing and exploiting people on the job. We are expected, to ignore academic studies published by the National Academy of Sciences showing that, in fact, there is no shortage of high-tech engineers here in America. Also, data showing that companies are using the H-1B program to drive down domestic workers wages by forcing them into competition with imported workers from impoverished countries.

H-1B is a non-immigrant visa category in the United States under the Immigration & Nationality Act, section 101(a)(15)(H). It allows U.S. employers to seek temporary help from skilled foreigners. The H-1B classification is for "specialty occupations" only. The occupation must require a bachelor's degree or equivalent for the application of theoretical and highly specialized knowledge. Likewise, the foreign worker must possess at least a bachelor's degree or its equivalent and state licence, if required to practice in that field. H-1B work-authorization is strictly limited to employment by the sponsoring employer. The regulations define a "specialty occupation" as requiring theoretical and practical application of a body of highly specialized knowledge in a field of human endeavor including, but not limited to, architecture, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, social sciences, medicine and health, education, law, accounting, business specialties, theology, and the arts, and requiring the attainment of a bachelor's degree or its equivalent as a minimum.

Hooray for helping the impoverished country, but at the same time we are starving over here too! If you don't believe it, turn on your local news, you can see all types of desperate people robbing, killing, embezzling, and doing all sorts of crazy things in order to survive. True, some of these fools are just plain old mean or as my mother would say "they have the devil in them".

We are expected to believe that layoffs, wage stagnation and pension/health care cutbacks have absolutely nothing to do with corporate executives trying to line their own pockets. Also, government data clearly shows that the share of national income going to wages is at a record low, and the shares going to corporation profits is a record high. Overall worker's pay has barely outpaced inflation.

On another note, consider starting your own business while you have a steady pay check at a job. If you are already out of work, lacking job skills, have a disability, came from another country , living in an area that has no desirable employment or whatever, consider being creative in finding work by first visiting a few websites to get yourself on the right track.

These are some recommended sites on the world wide web:

entrepreneur.com is a wellspring of helpful articles and information for starting and running a business.

eventuring.org is the Kauffman Foundation's guide to building innovative companies, with stories, how-to, and a glossary of terms.

tannedfeet.com is almost overwhelming; it has so much information for entrepreneurs of all sorts.

benlore.com The Entrepreneur's Mind offers in-depth profiles of successful entrepreneurs and tells the stories of how they got to where they are.

sethgodin.typepad.com is the blog of highly successful entrepreneurial guru Seth Godin. Read information for wisdom and inspiration.

sba.gov/hotlist/license.html has links to business license information, listed by state.

irs.org is the site to visit for a Tax Identification Number.

business.gov You'll want to check this site out for federal and state licenses, tax information, and other resources listed by subject.

governmentguide.com Here you can type your zip code into the "My Personalized Guide" box and then click on "Small Business" to find the regulations for your city or town (although searches for smaller towns may not yield any results).

Now if you are not the entrepreneur business type, here are some no brainer jobs you can do.

1. Personal Assistant

2. Crossing Guard

3. Bike messenger

4. Model for Artists or Photographers

5. Yard Work/Landscaping

6. Escort

7. Closet Organizer

8. Holiday Decorator

9. Windshield Washer

10. House-Sitter

11. Gift Wrapper

12. House Cleaner

13. Pooper Scooper

14. Dog Walker

Hope this will help you toward your new adventures in 2008.
