I love Easter in the Preschool Classroom. There are so many art projects that can stimulate every sense in a child.

There are so many more art projects you can do with preschool kids that are beyond the traditional color an egg, glue cotton on a bunny, etc. Why not take Easter art to the next level and give preschoolers a sensory experience they won't quickly forget.

Here are just a few suggestions for the classroom.

Painting with Peeps

This is my favorite activity to do. The kids love it! You can do it with the toddlers even. Buy the purple, pink or blue marshmallow peeps. I also buy the vanilla pudding cup, but pudding can be made from scratch. The next step can be done differently. I look for a picture of a chick or an egg online then print it on cardstock. You can just cut out an egg shape from fingerpaint paper or construction paper. Put a spoonful of pudding on the page and let the kids use the peep like a paintbrush. The color of the peep will dye the pudding and make a great artistic craft. Then the kids can eat their peeps. I found that the purple and blue peeps work best for the project. Be sure to have a camera ready because it makes great pictures watching the kids interact with the art project.

Painting With Jelly Beans

This is a second craft that even the young toddlers can do. Place a sheet of paper on a cookie sheet or inside a coffee can for the younger ones. Have the older children dip the jelly bean in the same color of paint. For example, if the child has a red jelly bean they dip it in red paint, green in green paint, etc. Dip two to three jelly beans and place on the paper. Have the children roll the beans around by picking the cookie sheet up slightly on each side. For the toddlers, have them dip the beans and place them in the coffee can. Put the lid on tight. Have the toddlers shake and roll the can around to room for some awesome jelly bean art!

Paint With Easter Eggs

Buy plastic Easter eggs. Open the eggs in half and then dip the open end in paint. Have the kids then stamp it on to a sheet of paper. It makes great circles and the kids will enjoy painting with the eggs.

Carrot Painting

Kids will giggle at the very thought of this one. Buy carrots in the vegetable aisle. This project can be done one of two ways. Children can dip the sharp end of the carrot in paint and then draw with it. The other way is to dip the green ends, if you can buy some with the ends still attach, and paint with the leafy parts.

Easter Cookie Cutters

This is along the same lines as the painting with the eggs. Dip the cookie cutters in paint and then stamp on construction paper.

These are just a few ideas that put a twist on the traditional Easter art. If you have any other ideas, feel free to share them in the comment section below.
