We've all heard the jokes about smelly, sweaty feet and yet some of us might not find it all that funny if you were the one that had to suffer with sweaty feet. If you have extremely sweaty feet it is actually a medical condition that can create some really severe psychological and social disorders. The medical term for those with sweaty feet is plantar hyperhidrosis.

Plantar hyperhidrosis is actually something that affects a portion of the population, in turn leaving them to avoid social situations as they are afraid that someone will notice and ridicule them. Unfortunately that does happen but now there are ways to cure sweaty feet so that those with plantar hyperhidrosis can join in all the fun that they might have been missing.

The one solution to cure sweaty feet that many will try is a medication. There are a few medications that have been used with success as a way to cure sweaty feet. Medications are great for a lot of people but some just aren't comfortable with taking any form of medication unless it is absolutely necessary. And yes there are some that have so many problems with sweaty feet that they do have to resort to medications.

Sweaty feet aren't just an embarrassing problem because of the fact that it can make your feet smell but it can lead to other issues. Sweaty feet means moisture, moisture in a warm, dark place, such as on sweaty feet inside of a shoe, is a great place for fungus to grow.

Athlete's foot is the most common type of fungus reported to grow on feet but there are others. Extreme cases of plantar hyperhidrosis can cause more than just sweaty feet; it can cause some really miserable feet.

Plantar hyperhidrosis usually goes hand-in-hand with palmar hyperhidrosis (sweaty hands) and sweaty armpits. To have your solitary problem be sweaty feet is extremely rare. In some cases where you only have sweaty feet and no other problems with extreme sweating, a surgery called ETS (endoscopic thoracic sympathectomy) has been a proven treatment to cure sweaty feet.

Surgery is not the way that I would suggest to cure sweaty feet but for some it might be considered the best way. I personally don't like to involve a needle or any type of anesthesia where a more natural approach can create the same effect. Surgeries to me are just so risky and if it can be healed naturally then that is the approach I will always try first.

If wanting the natural approach to cure sweaty feet then I would suggest trying a simple antiperspirant as the first step. There are some really good antiperspirants available that you can try but they keep in mind that the main ingredient should be aluminum chloride. This works to absorb the moisture.

Another natural approach to cure sweaty feet that many use for hyperhidrosis is acupuncture. Acupuncture is something that has been around for hundreds of years and has been shown to have some really good effects for those using it to cure sweaty feet.

I hope that when looking for a way to cure sweaty feet that one of these will help you become able to toss aside those shoes at the next picnic and relax. Everybody needs to be able to enjoy their life a little bit with some no-shoes time.

Jennifer Davis is an ex hyperhidrosis sufferer who has learned to keep her excessive sweating conditions under control. She has developed an informative website to help others cope with this rare yet embarrassing condition. To learn how you too can cure your hyperhidrosis and excessive sweating without surgery, visit her website for a bundle of free tips and remedies: http://www.hyperhidrosiscures.com

Hey, what about special insoles (e.g. zederna cedarsoles which have antibacterial features)? I've made best experiences by wearing such insoles in all my shoes. Has anyone else ever tested this method successfully?
