I believe that if we do not elect Senator Clinton as president at this time in our history, our country will never elect a woman. So rarely do we have a woman with such intelligence and experience who so passionately supports the issues that are of such great importance to our country at this time. Rarely do we have a woman who has the experience of making change from both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue and is ready from day one to face the problems that we know about and the challenges that will surprise us. Her solutions to major issues, both domestically and internationally, are complete and she knows exactly how she is going to pay for these solutions. If she is elected president, she will join a growing club of recently elected women as heads of state in many countries around the world and she has become an expert in foreign policy.
Senator Obama just is not seasoned enough in the way of Washington and how to use the system to make the changes he envisions. Actually, most of his time in public office has been spent running for the next higher office. His campaign has said that immediately after law school, he became a community organizer but that is not true it was several years before he moved back to Chicago as an organizer. So, the resume that we see in his campaign literature is not complete and, in my opinion, neither is his experience.
Yes, Obama has the ability to eloquently present a vision for our country but a vision without experience will only become a dream. Hillary Clinton has a vision also of change and of making life better for the forgotten voices heard in our country. I support her because with her experience, that shared vision can become our future. Her election requires all of us to play a part in rethinking what our lives are and what they should be. What we must do is break through the thinking that has too long captured us politically. As she said in a speech made several years ago, "We need a new politics of meaning. We need a new definition of civil society which answers the unanswerable questions of how we can have a society that fills us up again and makes us feel that we are part of something bigger than ourselves."
