-Yes, that is correct. Perhaps you also believe, like many others, the fallacy that to lose weight you need to starve yourself?

It is important Not to skip meals.

There is an old and wise expression- "Eat breakfast like a King, - - - - - - Eat a nutritious lunch, and eat evening meal like a pauper."

* * * > The problem with skipping meals, and starving oneself, is that the body will automatically register that it needs to switch to survival mode'.

The metabolism will adjust, slow down and fat will accumulate to be used to survive when no food is available'.

= = = = > These reactions/mechanisms are inbuilt in our human physiology from ancient times when food simply was not available at certain times of the year.

To state an obvious analogy, - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - Have you ever seen a skinny bear go into hibernation?'

* * * The relevance of this is that in a way, we humans are like animals, insofar as we have inbuilt survival mechanisms.

The bear, when he goes into hibernation is fat. This fat store lasts him throughout his period of hibernation.

> * > * > In other words, the bear's physiology is such that it will automatically store fat prior to hibernate on to enable it to survive during that period of time.

When he comes out of hibernation, the bear has slimmed down.

The bears' metabolism has slowed down to gradually burn off the fat during that long period of sleep.

* * * * -So, to summarise, we need to eat regularly throughout the day.

Obviously the type of food we eat is of great importance. This topic will be discussed in a future articles.
