Presidential electoral campaigns have been long known as a backbiting, false accusations, lying event. But I recall in my younger years when men would be able to run a very tight race and still wind up friendly and friends. I would imagine that harsher words were said over the breakfast table than on the airwaves or to reporters. But the public never heard much of the really dirty, demeaning criticism that is heard today from every angle. And candidates were able to lay out their stands on the issues calmly and intelligently. You could make your decision, at least partially informed, on those things you would like to see from the president of the United States. In fact, that is why I switched political party affiliation.

In an earlier article I have published in Searchwarp, "Reasons Obama Is Unlikely To Win The Presidency", I brought out the groups whom I felt would vote for him. I still stand by those remarks. But what I did not anticipate is the extraordinary diatribes which are now taking place between them. They are , unwittingly or with full knowledge…I don't know, damaging one another in the sight of the entire world. I hate to admit that I am rather amused at the entire thing. But both have shown their true character, that they are willing to do anything regardless of how unethical or immoral, to win the presidency. Obama wants change, but he has no clue as to what change. Hillary is the same way but less vocal because she doesn't want to endorse anything Obama says. Neither can declare definitively one single change they will make. Just change. The only real change that I know Obama wants to make is to remove our troops from Islamic territory. I'm not sure the president has the power to do that without approval from congress, but if so, he will. People may condemn our being in war in Iraq all they please, but our leaving that nation to be turned back into the hands of radicals would be the most tragic thing that could possibly happen. The war against radical Islam is not going away. Their long time goal is to destroy the U.S. and all Christians and Jews.

But let's look at some of the statistics which the Democrats have accrued for themselves. It appears that much of these numbers have developed since the deep criticism between the two has been in the daily news. If we assume that the two parties are near equal in number, then check the numbers here of Democrat for Obama voters response when asked who would they vote for if Hillary is the nominee: Hillary 56%, McCain 23%, third party candidate 6%, nobody 15%.

Now let's reverse the case. If Obama is the nominee, here is the stats from the same group of Democratic voters: Obama 58%, McCain 34%, third party candidate 6%, nobody 4%. These poll stats taken from BuzzDash.com

Now, do your own math. For either candidate to loose over 40% of the other's followers is catastrophic. They will be unable to beat McCain. That is o.k. by me. McCain, in my opinion is the lesser of three weevils. Now, look at the latest Rasmussen poll (posted March 25 2008). This is a nationwide poll which lists only ones preference, nothing else.

Between Hillary and Obama: Hillary 46%, Obama 43%. (within the margin of error). When Obama vs. McCain, McCain wins by 9%. McCain over Hillary by 5%. Now it appears that it is too late for the national preference to choose Hillary over Obama, unless the party can come up with something sensible such as allowing the Michigan and Florida votes to stand as is…which is unlikely. But regardless of which one wins the nomination, look what it has done to party loyalty. You may not be able to thoroughly come to a mathematically accurate number here but when considering the loss of many voters who are shown for, either of the Dem candidates above and add that percentage to McCain's apparent advantage already and it looks, to me, as if the Democrats have blown their golden opportunity again. I know, there are seven more months to go. What do you see developing by then? Two weeks ago, most polls showed McCain trailing Obama in the national preference polls. His gain may have come from Obama's attachment to his "cursing America preacher", but these sorts of things are developing and some are not likely to go away. I keep getting forwarded emails with photos of Obama not standing at attention with his hand over his heart, while others were and I assume there was a flag being raised or passing by. I've also read where he has refused to recite the pledge of allegiance. I have no knowledge if those things are true and so I do not pass them on. But many probably accept them at face value. I do know that he has the support of many whom he should distance himself from, and doesn't. With the amount of money he has raised, he is going to be obligated to so many anti-American, anti-white advocates that we'll all have to start carrying weapons. George Soros, Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson, and several others.

What is the answer to this mess for them? Several have been suggesting that Hillary and Obama kiss and make up and run on the same ticket. It doesn't appear that this will happen. Obama has said very distinctly that he is not interested in running with Hillary as her VP. And I doubt that Hillary has any interest in that office either. But, even if she did, I think there would be real dissention in the two offices should they become Mr. President and Mrs. Vice President. I even question if such a match-up would salvage the party. I am reading much more and harsher criticism from their followers towards the other, than from the Republicans. I'm not sure but what their match-up would give McCain an overwhelming majority.

Obama has another growing problem. Just as John Kerry's wife proved to be a detriment to his campaign, so it appears is Barack's wife. This lady seems as full of hate as is Louis Farrakhan, or preacher Jeremiah. If you will only read her interviews and anything else much, you'll see what I mean. This cannot help but damage Obama's campaign. I predict that Obama's popularity has peaked and will slither downward from here on out. I know one thing, every voter should meditate upon all issues this year and choose someone who can take control. We don't need incompetence in office at this particular time. military strength.  Click Here

Hi Joel. interesting piece, I bet this gets responses similar to some of my articles, those that see the left for what they are will cheer you, and those that think the dems are wonderful ( I know..but forget how they jacked up congress) they will scowl and call you names.

Thanks for the comment Michael. Yes, I imagine that you are correct, I expect to get some slamming...but then, I often do. I write a lot of letters to the editor in our area daily newspaper, in response to leftish liberalism. The paper itself is as far left as you can find one. They often edit my responses or fail to print them, so I am somewhat accustomed to it. I have actually dropped my subscription a time or two in protest. BUT, then I can't keep up with the area obituaries nor Dilbert. So I re-subscribe.

Mr. Hendon, of course, an excellent article. I do disagree with you on a point, though. Hillary has made one change she will make very clear; she will be taxing us sky high for every one of her programs, should they be implemented. Just think, we already pay for our own insurances, then Medicaid is pulled out and should she win, we will have an additional payroll tax to cover a portion of her agenda. And I think that is just the beginning. Now, before I am crucified for this comment, something to think on. I don't believe our government ever was intended to care for the people the way it has become. People are to care for those who can't care for themselves. I recently looks up the stats and there are at least double the number of churches as there are homeless/infirmed. If each church took one or two individuals or families and helped them as needed, teach a new skill, provide medical care, etc, this problem and our overtaxing would be greatly diminished. Just my 2 cents worth. I would much rather help those in need through a local organization than through more government.

L.M., you are right of course. Either will raise taxes although they won't brag about it in their campaigns. And you are right about government. It is far too big now and gaining momentum. By the way, I added J.C. Watts to my cabinet choices in the other article. I forgot about him to start with.

hi joel,
i think we in our 40's and up, i'd say, can deal with whatever happens, using our minds and our voices. the ones i feel bad for are the 18 year olds who can vote, but don't like who is running. they will be most affected by this next election, and several after. what hope do these young men and women have to look forward to? i's not just a shame,it's a damn shame, and there doesn't seem to be anything anyone can do. unless you ran, of course.
best regards,
sue thom

Thanks for commenting Susan. You are so right. I figure I have at the outside, 10 more years but I have grandkids which I am frightened stiff about. We can always pray.

I hope you are right Joel! I have seen so many young people over the years throw their votes to the democrats just because they promise change. They never know what the change is but they are on the bandwagon! Thanks for the well-informed article. Keep up the great work!

Thank you Laura for your comments. I too hope something will show the American people what this man truly is. I would encourage evreyone to go to the URL I have added to my article at the bottom. It is a short message from Obama which sounds like an isane person. Listen to the drastic measures the promises to do to reduce our military capabilities. If he were able to do that...if congress would allow it, we would be overrun before the end of his first term. Total irresponsibility.
