I have never understood, even as a young girl listening to soap operas while I played and my mom watched, how a man or a woman could get away with the things they do on soaps, while in a relationship. Who are these people? How do they justify kissing and lying almost naked in bed, with fellow "co workers?" It's acting. What allows them to be able to have their partners on the set, watching them work, and seemingly intimate with someone else? And this isn't adultery? Nope, it's acting!
One would then have to wonder how many actors join this trade so they can do what they do, either in a TV show, or a movie. They have their partners at home, and their fantasies on the set or stage. I still don't understand how it can be right. I know I personally would never want anyone else's lips on my partners, no matter how much he got paid. Oh, and believe me, I would be banned from the set. Most definitely.
I haven't watched soaps in over 10 years. I did when my kids were very young, and they were playing on the floor of the family room, and I was watching all this kissing and touching and bedroom shots, still wondering the same thing-how can someone do this? I mean really, mouths are mouths, and kisses feel good, so the nonsense about it just being a job, and being professional, just doesn't sit right.
Recently, while flipping through the channels when I couldn't sleep, I found that there is a soap opera channel, and started peeking in on my favorite soap. It was really weird at first. Eighty per cent of the actors were still on. Some looked the same, some a lot older, but all were still "acting." Still making out with their co stars and going home to their partners. I'm telling you, I don't get it. They are getting paid good money to do this, too, as movie stars are.
Getting paid to "cheat" on their spouse or partner. I've seen interviews of how it's not as glamorous or romantic as it seems, there are cameramen and directors, etc. on the set, but you know what? A kiss is a kiss. Lying naked from the waist up (I hope-don't get me started if that's not the case) with your arms around another person other than your chosen one, is insane to me.
We can't go out to a nice restaurant, have some drinks, and start kissing each other's mates. We can't be with someone else besides our mates, but if we're an actor, no problem. Is it some type of electricity in some that make them gravitate to this kind of work? Is it the best of both worlds, that they desperately want, and couldn't have any other way?
Outside the soap opera and movie world, one would have grounds for divorce if they ever kissed someone as passionately as my favorite Young And The Restless stars. Maybe all those actors really are quite restless! It would appear that way. Restless for somebody else's lips besides their beloved's. I don't know how much I believe of the explanations I've heard that it's just work, just a job, they turn it on when they're working, and back off when they're not. Yeah, it appears they're getting turned on alright.
Maybe it's just a simple matter of different strokes for different folks, but the cops would be on their way if the Maytag repairman planted a big wet kiss on you as he looked at your machine, and he could do so because he was "working." Or maybe you have to be in the Entertainment Business to get away with having your cake and eating it, too. If I ever witnessed my partner kissing someone else, there'd be more to worry about than just cake. However, if he was an actor…..
