Anyone who has taken a walk down the local cosmetic aisle lately knows that the cost of skin care products is rising.
Quality skin care products are not cheap, but think of them as an investment towards the futurethe future of your skin.
Knowing your skin type and using the correct product will ensure your skin will retain a healthy glow for years.
You don't have to go out an buy the latest skin product that comes out on the market, but you should spend money on good quality basics that you need to ensure the products are good for your skin type.
One way to save money is to try buying your products from one of the online stores that sell cosmetics and skin care. Buying from an online store can help you save on the basic items while giving you extra funds to splurge on other areas of skin care.
You should always remember the many small things you can do to help protect your skin:
Staying out of the sun whenever possible,
Quit smoking or staying away from areas where secondhand smoke is present.
Drinking sufficient water will help your skin remain well hydrated. The old saying to drink 8 glasses of water each day is still applicable.
Getting sufficient sleep is another excellent way of improving the condition of your skin.
Removing any stress from your life will also help improve your health and your skin.
Medications you take can affect the condition of your skin. While it might not be possible to eliminate meditation, you might want to find out if there are any alternatives which do not have the side effects which might affect other areas of your health.
As we have entered the 22nd century, we are beginning to return to some of the older skin care routines of making our own skin care preparations.
When you make it yourself, you know that it is fresh, does not contain petroleum or other harsh chemicals, nor has it been setting on a shelf or who knows how long.
Here are some easy recipes you can make yourself.
1. Aging Skin Fighter 2 teaspoons plain yogurt 1/2 teaspoon honey 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice 3 capsules vitamin E (equivalent of 300 units) To Make: Combine yogurt, honey and lemon juice. Prick open the vitamin E capsules and folds the contents into the mix. Leave on skin for 15 minutes.
2. Banana Anti-Wrinkle Cream Mash 1/4 banana until very creamy, spread all over face and leave for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off with warm water followed by a dash of cold. Gently pat dry.
3. Apple- Pear Nighttime Wrinkle Lotion 1 tsp apple juice 1 tsp lemon juice 1 tsp lime juice 2 Tbsp buttermilk 1TBSP rosemary leaves 3 seedless grapes 1/4 pear 2 egg whites To Make: Blend all ingredients on medium speed for 30 seconds Using a cotton ball, dab mixture on areas around the eyes and wherever wrinkles have developed. Let dry, then rinse with warm water. Use no more than 3 times a week. Follow with a moisturizer. Cover and refrigerate immediately, discard after 4 days.
4. Honey and Oats Facial Scrub 1/2 cup uncooked oatmeal 1 Tbsp honey 1 Tbsp cider vinegar 1 tsp ground almonds To Make: Moisten face with a warm washcloth then apply mixture to face avoiding the sensitive area around the eyes. Let mixture dry, and then remove with a warm, damp washcloth.
These are just a few examples of facial care products you can make in the comfort of your home. Many products are ordinary products we all have in our kitchen cabinets. Some are almost good enough to eat.
Have fun and good luck. Your skin, and perhaps your wallet, will thank you for it.
