Reduce your
carbon footprint and go green at your next conference, meeting or event!
When you're next enquiring at a venue or have engaged your venue finder to locate a conference venue for you, why not ask for a venue's green credentials? You will be surprised just how much venues are doing to help save the planet and you can do your bit too.
Not only can you reduce your carbon footprint at home, by recycling your cardboard, paper and plastic bottles, you can now help save the environment at your next conference venue.
Saving the planet is never off the agenda these days so it's not surprising that more and more conference venues around the UK are switching on to being 'green'. Not only are they becoming increasingly aware of the effect their operations have on the local, regional and global environment, prospective clients are increasingly looking to hold their events at 'green' venues.
The
Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon Warwickshire is an excellent illustration of a venue that has established many environmental initiatives to compensate for its operation. The installation of a modern more efficient air conditioning chiller plant has reduced electricity consumption, while their gas supply has been changed from LPG gas delivered by road to National Gas delivered via a pipeline, so saving on delivery emissions. All glass, paper and cardboard is recycled and where possible, the Heritage Motor Centre tries to secure consumable products from local suppliers.
Similarly,
Warwick Conferences in the Midlands has invested 10,000 in their recycling initiative to purchase cardboard balers for three of their training and conference centres, Scarman, Radcliffe and Arden. The balers allow each centre to recycle their cardboard and since beginning this initiative, only a few weeks ago, they have produced over 100 bales of cardboard for recycling.
Chris Nagle, Chairperson of the Environment Committee at Warwick Conferences said "The investment in the new cardboard recycling initiative really shows how seriously Warwick Conferences are taking their responsibility to become a 'green' business. We are constantly looking at ways to improve our waste management and ultimately reduce any negative impact our business activities may have on the environment."
