I will say right up front, that this article is about what I believe. That's all, my belief system, based on books I've read of people who have had near death experiences. I have no idea whether the way I think could be correct or not, but it's the way I choose to live my life, and raise my children to live their lives, along with their own input, but I have given them what I consider the basics. There were 8 million reported cases of near death experiences about 11 years ago when I was reading about them. There are more similarities to each of their stories, than not. Stories being documented all over the world, with these likenesses. There is even a book I have on children from different parts of the world, describing virtually the same experience, while clinically deceased for a length of time. I also have known 2 people who expressed going through this process.

These people have been different genders, ages, races, colors, creeds. The first thing that happens is that they are going through a tunnel, towards a light, and their family, friends, and acquaintances who have passed on, were there in spirit form to greet them. Now, I was raised Catholic, and that's also what I was taught. As they float towards this warm, embracing, brilliant light, they see spirits working in churches and hospitals and universities. They are doing research, and trying to find cures for diseases on Earth that they telepathically get "into" the right person's head. It has been described as being like this: Two angels go to God and say, "God, we need something to stop the people from bleeding to death." So, God says, "Well, go and make something." When they come back, they show God what looks like a band-aid, and He tells them, "Now, go put it into Johnson and Johnson's heads.

They pass a place of what appears to be limbo, where spirits are figuring out which way they want to go, before they move up a plane. When they've made up their minds, their time in limbo is up, and God asks them if they want to join him, and it's their choice. They also, as they are still floating toward the light, see a blackness where the souls are troubled, and cannot speak, and are trying to work themselves out. Some will stay, but some, after going through the process of rebirth, are also given a chance by a simple question from God, " Do you want to follow me?"

As the person's spirit is still gliding upward to the Light, and wanting to be within the Light, feeling the love and warmth and gentleness and acceptance, they are told by a voice emanating from the Light, that they must go back, their time is not up, there is more for them to do, and just then, these people are jolted awake in one way or another. It could be by electrical paddles, or mouth to mouth, whatever the way, they were clinically dead.

They had started going through a review of their lives, what it felt like to go to the Senior prom, what the girl felt like that you didn't ask, how many times you cheated in checkers, how many times you pet the neighbor's dog, how the boy in class felt when you called him a ton of lard. Then, they were awakened from death. However, each of them had something different about them, and lived lives of giving and helping others. They all believed they had something to do before they died, and tried to give back as much as possible.

There was no revengeful God, because there didn't have to be, we go through our own review, feeling every emotion we pushed onto another, and experiencing how everyone felt that we came in contact with, either good or bad. We feel how the little girl felt that we embarrassed in second grade. We feel the hopelessness at the other end of a mean and nasty adversary. Whatever we have done, we will experience, no matter how long it takes, and then, we move on to another, higher plane, where maybe we'll work in the hospital or research departments. Maybe we'll be an angel that goes down to Earth and helps people.

Who knows? Plenty of people will say they know…different, but when this many people, probably triple 8 million, how do you explain it? A loving God, not a vengeful one. Limbo, hell, heaven, A warm, comforting, bright Light through which words emanated telepathically. Being punished by ourselves, not a mean, cruel God.  Suffering for being prejudiced and controlling and nasty and miserly and vindictive. Feeling how those feelings affect you, and realizing what you did to others, and repenting. Maybe you role is to be those people's angel now. The possibilities really are endless. I know there are many who don't believe this way, and that's fine. We all have free choice. But I think there's something to these millions of people finding a loving, and accepting God, and not a mean and revengeful one. I don't try to push this information down anyone's throat, it is simply a theory based on many near death experience accounts, however, some may think it believable enough to research for themselves.

Susan Thom is the mother of three children, two sons, 18 and 22, and a daughter 24. Writing calms her, and gives her a place to go by herself! Clears the head and gets it out. She lives in a rural area, with a lake and mountains, and her partner, and has loved writing since she was a child.

She certainly hopes you enjoy her take on life, and her style of communicating that in stories.

She has been on a journey of self discovery for twenty years, and has learned many things about the human mind, and how to maintain some semblance of calm and peace within.

If someone reads one of her stories, and relates to her feelings, and maybe gets a suggestion on how she dealt with them in a positive way, that would be the ultimate gift of her writing.

Hi susan, it is amazing how many experiences like this there are. This is a great place that we can all share our beliefs. And those who read can be encouraged or challenged to search these things out for themselves. Great job in explaining your belief. Many blessings to you! Teresa
