The biggest problems with plastic lenses is that they get cloudy and worn. This is usually caused by sun or UV damage and a mixture of acid rain or road debris and dirt. The sun breaks down and dries out plastic. It turns them cloudy and yellow and it only takes 2-3 years for this to happen on plastic headlight lenses. Acid rain will usually leave a characteristic line and either the top half or bottem half will be etched from it. Road debris and dirt will basically have a sand blasting effect on the lenses.
