Luci knelt down beside her bed on the eve of her wedding
and asked the Lord to show her how to be His woman,
for she knew if she could please God, she would please George.

Show, me Dear Father, how best I can serve both of you,
for you know my heart more than I, and I trust You.
So many conflicting messages around me that I am confused,
and even George does not know how to answer me.

Then the Lord whispered in Luci's ear, "Be still, my child.
Do not fear, for I will teach you how to bring honor to us both.
First, your character must be noble – rich with dignity.
That will make you worth more than gold, diamonds and rubies.

George must be able to have full confidence in you: in
your loyalty, your support, and, of course, gentle honesty.
You must never talk about him to your friends, or
agree with negative comments from your family members.

All the days of your life, you must bring good into his life, and
with intent, never allow yourself to unknowingly harm him.
You must resist laziness, Luci, keeping your hands busy with
projects for your family instead of using your credit card.

You need to shop wisely, staying within your budget,
not being given to impulsive purchases that waste your money.
Get up early, Luci, learn to cook nutritious meals for George,
and eventually, for the children I will loan to you and George.

Save your money, child, so when it is time to buy a home,
you will not have to buy foolishly or have a huge mortgage.
Take your savings and plant your own food so you will know
what your family eats is nutritious, economical, and pure.

Each day work vigorously, keep your body healthy and strong,
so you will be around a long time to serve others in My Name.
Learn about managing portfolios so you and George will have
something for your later years. Learn how to profit instead of lose.

Above all, Luci, be charitable to those who have less than you.
Do not forget my widows and orphans, child, for you are acting in
My Name, and your heart must be open to the needy of this world.
You are my hands, my feet, and my heart to those who are suffering.

Luci, clothe your self with a gentle and calm spirit, and then make sure
you dress yourself to honor George. Have a reputation for being a smart
dresser so that other women will say, 'Luci certainly knows how to
Honor her husband! She's such a woman of dignity and good taste!'

Child, remember: George will be respected partly on the basis of whom
He chose to mother his children and represent his home.
So don't be afraid to show your talents for entrepreneurial pursuits.
I have given you talents and you must put them to use, child.

When you speak, child, speak with wisdom you have gleaned
from My Word. I will instruct you in the way you should go.
Watch over the affairs of your household, and present yourself
in strength and wisdom. I will never leave you, Luci. You are Mine!

Do not try to get by on your charm, child, for it is deceitful; your outer
Beauty of youth will flee as you age, so do not use it as a crutch.
Stay close to me, Luci, and your inner beauty will shine for George and
all who know you to see. You will be blessed if you do as I instruct.

Your children will praise you, and their children, also, because you will
mature into a more beautiful woman than you are today. George will love
You even more than he does now. He will respect you, cherish you, and
protect you, as will I, for you will truly be our woman to be praised.

Good night, My Child. Sleep peacefully, for tomorrow your new life begins."

We tend to think of the Proverbs 31 woman as just a prototype written long ago. But look around. The Proverbs 31 Woman is just as relevant now as it was then. Thank you for sharing this with us.

You're so right! She's a home maker, an entrepreneur, a wife who honors her husband, and a woman of God. It is one of my favorite Bible Studies (Provers 31)! Thank you for commenting, Janelle!
