Fortune 500 has issued the challenge for the CEO greats that we have grown to love over the years. I am not sure why I am so fascinated with Silicon Valley. Most likely because most of those CEO's were in charge and millionaires way before the age I am now.
When I heard this news, I was like a child in a candy store. Fortune is allowing every day wannabes and online users vote on the CEO with the best beard. No way, you say? Yes way!
The group has been shaved down (pardon the pun) to four last contenders. They are Apple CEO Steve Jobs, Flickr's Stewart Butterfield, Pixar's Edwin Catmull and Oracle's Larry Ellison.
The results so far have Jobs in the lead, but my opinion is people are voting for who he is as opposed to how well his beard looks. You can't even see the beard it is so gray. He needs to check out some Just for Men product. No offense, Jobs. You are a genius, but for this contest, I think you shouldn't be in the lead.
I personally think Butterfield has by far the best look of a computer geek-been working several days straight-CEO. Vote for yourself at Fortune.
Losers in the beard contest included: Steve Wozniak, Acquicor Tech; Jimmy Wales, Wikipedia; Russel Simmons, Yelp; and Zach Nelson, NetSuite.
If this type of stories fascinate you like as much as me, be sure and check out the research on hairtype and success among CEOs. I found it interesting that the more successful CEOs part their hair on the left. Something to it? You decide for yourself. Visit the hair article at Fortune.
