I had to buy a new computer recently as my old one finally decided to break down for good. Now I'm not the most technical of people, far from it, in fact I'd even go so far as to describe myself as technologically out of it. However, I did realize that I needed to get a new computer and get it sooner rather than later, since I rely on my computer for writing.
It was while using my friend's computer the next day that I came across an ebook on the internet. It was called quite simply - "How to Buy A Computer". Not the most imaginative, nail-biting kind of title, but what caught my attention were the words "a jargon-free no-nonsense guide". Coming from a technological no-man's land as I do - my curiosity got the better of me and I decided to take a closer look at the book.
After subscribing to the authors newsletter (which after reading a couple now, is actually very helpful) I was able to start reading the book. I was more than a little surprised by what I found in this ebook.
I was expecting just another computer book filled with all kinds of technical computer terms and phrases, but I couldn't have been more wrong.
This book is a complete breath of fresh air. The author does seem to understand the boredom aspect of computers and has cleverly compared computers to human anatomy, to better explain what you need to know when you go "computer shopping" as he puts it.
He writes in such a way (almost as if he's talking to you) that you can actually understand what he's talking about. It's not boring and it all flows together very nicely. He goes on to describe what to look for when you go to buy a computer.
I read the book through to the end. There's a what-to-buy checklist that you can print off and take with you. I actually bought my new computer using this checklist. There's also an example of computer specifications (you need specs to buy the right computer) which the author explains in detail. Personally, these cheat sheets made buying experience more fulfilling as I knew exactly what I wanted and what to ask, using the checklist as a guide.
I didn't have to trust the sales people this time. There were two shops where they tried to sell me a computer - after reaching for my checklist I soon realized that both these computers would have been a terrible buy - one I would regret very quickly.
As a result I am writing this article on my new computer which I handpicked, using this great little ebook.
If you need to buy a new computer then this ebook is a must, it takes the stress and worry out of the whole process. For more information and to grab your FREE copy visit www.gettherightcomputer.com
