While being fluent in foreign languages is an excellent and worthwhile skill to have, many of us simply do not have the time or indeed talent to commit observes fully to such intense bouts of learning. Different languages have their own unique and individual eccentricities, a certain stress on certain vowels or constants, emphasis on certain words etc.

Words that sound alike can differ majorly in terms of meaning, and whilst this may be amusing among friends, things can take an unpleasant turn if you are with say a business client, or someone who you need to impress. Whilst taking the time and effort to learn a  foreign language is commendable, it is always useful and indeed reassuring  to have a dependable point of reference so that if you are unsure as to the meaning of something, you can have a precise and accurate translation.

Electronic language translators are excellent devices for this purpose, not only acting as a portable, electronic dictionary but also coming complete with the rules of grammar and pronunciation of words. These electronic language translators are excellent learning devices allowing the user to have a point of reference as to the proper pronunciation of words.

If you are engaging in business, making at least some effort to know the basic tenets of your clients language will no doubt impress them, the fact that you have taken the time and effort to do so, will be  a gesture which will be most appreciated.

Pronunciation can be very crucial; in Japanese the word for four is also very similar to the Japanese word for death. The same issue arises in China for wife and pig! Whilst such semantic curiosities are interesting, they can case major offence to your hosts.

Some of the more advanced models actually have a facility whereby the user speaks directly into the dictionary, and the spoken phrases are then automatically interpreted and translated and then directly spoken back to the user to give them feedback. For optimal results, such models also have directly programmed into them a list of commonly spoken and most useful phrases and words, such as phrases for use during an emergency.    It may sound like an unlikely concern, but being able to communicate that there is a fire, that you are sick, or need the police in the language in question is a luxury that cannot be faulted.

Pricing for electronic translation devices can vary significantly, based on brand name, features included as well as the extra options that are included, such as battery chargers, warranties etc. You may want to shop online and check via the comparison sites , this will you to determine at a glance which sites offer the cheapest and best value for money.

As a word of caution though, don't be tempted into buying a electronic translation device  which has a load of different languages that you are unlikely to ever use. That is not good value for money, it is only a saving if you derive some practical benefit from it!
