Now that you have a list of your adrenalin triggers, evaluate how you could do things differently. How could you better apply your resources? Do you need to hire help? Do you need to plan better? Do you need to learn to say "no, thank you." How will you create a better future for you? Come up with a few options for your top triggers and decide to act in a manor that brings you more peace and fulfillment.

Throw out an alarming alarm clock. If the ring is loud and strident, you're waking up to instant stress.

You shouldn't be bullied out of bed, just reminded that it's time to start your day. Sharon Gold

When my daughter was younger she occasionally declared an opposite day. A day when we had dinner for breakfast, wore pajamas all day and street clothes at night, said the opposite of what we meant to sayyou get the picture. It was just fun to doing the opposite and change our perspectives.

For us adults there are times when an opposite day would provide an interesting shake up. What if, for an area that is proving to be an adrenalin trigger, you intentionally responded in the opposite manner?

Let's say the dinner decision is an adrenalin trigger for you. You do not have time to create a meal plan each week, you are often stopping at the store on the way home to gather ingredients for something quick and easy to make or picking up take out. Just the question, "Mom, what's for dinner?" renders you speechless.

What is the opposite?

What if you turned that question around and asked each family member to decide what was for dinner one night a week and created one week of meals based on family favorites? You could recycle this meal plan for those especially hectic weeks.

Now be a little careful in how opposite you go.

If your boss assigns another project for you to work on you have some options. First, you can blindly say yes. Or you can swing to the opposite and say no. There are lots of options in between. If you are already overloaded and need to finish up some projects or get past a few deadlines before taking on more, what can you do instead of saying yes and sacrificing your evening and weekends to get one more project done?

Come up with 3 more options of how you can do things differently.

After identifying the options weigh the pros and cons of each keeping in mind your ultimate goal. If we go back to the work project example, your goal is probably something like maintain a manageable workload, enhance your relationship with your manager, and add value to your company and work team. As you are working through the pros and cons keep these requirements in mind. None of these requirements can be sacrificed so create the option that meets the cri teri a and put it into action.
