Although it might be tempting to set up the surround all by yourself, you would actually do much better to leave it up to professionals. Let a brick mason do the work for you. Building surrounds involve some technical strategies which you may not be aware of. By leaving it to a pro you can be assured of a completely safe and beautiful design that will last for many years to come.

Face the facts. No matter how grand looking and majestic your fireplace seems to be, it will all be pointless without a brick fireplace surround. Your fireplace design will never be complete without the surround. It helps emphasize it much better and thus makes it the focal point in the entire room. The surround also help set the mood which your fireplace will give off aesthetically. After all, surely you won't be able to bear just letting your design come out awful as some unfinished cemented frame where wood can be burned inside.

Brick fireplace surrounds have always been a staple choice with homeowners everywhere. They look relaxed and definitely feel homey and cozy. But more than just a force of habit and more than just the looks it provides, this type of fireplace design also has some great benefits attached to it which you will really find essential.

First of all, it is a natural fire proof material on its own. Therefore, even if you tend to sleep off the night while forgetting to put out the fire you will not have to worry about any accidental flames suddenly busting out of nowhere. Bricks in themselves cannot trigger fire so the fire will simply die once all the wood has been burned out.
