She dried her eyes as he drove away. He was a gentleman and she knew he would never come back. She, a mother of three, had to make a choice.

Without a word spoken, they knew what was best.

Without a word spoken, they strived to be moral and avoid temptation.

It wasn’t meant to be, that’s all, it wasn’t meant to be.

***

Sometimes, in this we call life, we have to make moral choices; decisions based on the difference between right and wrong.

According to the humanists' worldview, however, determining what is right or wrong depends solely on the situation; sorta like, “if it feels good, do it." Consequently, personal pleasure has become the final arbiter of morality, and our culture, which I commonly refer to as “an anything goes society," has slowly and subliminally given way to amorality.

Although we profess to be a nation of moral standards, we are not.

Sixty years ago, Ingrid Bergman was banned from Hollywood for having an extra marital affair. Today, it is perfectly acceptable to witness two women “tongue-kissing" on prime time television.

What’s up with that? Worse yet, what does our “no-value system" teach our children?

Children need role models but, unfortunately, few are to be found. Today, our children’s innocence is ravished prematurely because of our culture’s selfishness and lack of good choices. The moral decay within our society is quickly desensitizing our children’s reasoning of right and wrong. Thus unravels the cycle of immorality that will be the demise of our nation.

Our nation’s morality, or lack of, has produced sickening results: higher percentages of crime, juvenile delinquency, suicide, adultery, divorces, incest, and “sexual social masturbation" (my term for casual, free sex anywhere with anyone) with each passing year.

When I was growing up, college was the usual goal for career preparation, whereas today, rehab seems to be the current trend for many young adults.

And so we have evolved into “an anything goes society."

Uh, oh, wasn’t there a place called Sodom and Gomorrah a long, long time ago that practiced similar depravity? Mmm, now that I think about it, I don’t think that place had a very happy ending….

The choices we make in life does determine our future therefore it is important that we make good, moral choices for ourselves and our children. We need to examine the choices we are making in all areas of our life and get back to basics inviting God back into our culture.

Most of all, we need to teach our children well… they are our tomorrow and they need us.

Way to tackle the tough stuff Ethel! Well said. We are doing this to ourselves. Unfortunately Satan has blinded the eyes of man and we cannot make the connection between our sinful choices and the problems we face as a nation. Not until we individually repent and allow God to open our eyes. But the truth is the majority believe that as long as they are not hurting anyone, they feel its okay to do what they do. I know I used to. God forgive us. Love, L

Good job, NY. Yep Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for several reasons, one of which was depravity. But the other reason I find so compelling was because they were enormously prosperous but didn't give a flip about the needy. That REALLY offends God! (Sin is sin, period.)

Judi another article right to the heart of it all. AS you know, everything we do in life evolves around choice and the subsequent cause and effect. Yet as I reflect on the morality of the world it is very plain to see that there are forces at work here that humans just cannot contend with. We were all born to fail and the good fight is to just keep trying. God knows, like yourself, one can write to you are blue in the face, yet, do the masses ever change, truly change? No, in my opinion we are a society today that approves of the fast, the quick, the selfishness, coveting and the things that gratify us in the singular sense. Our children must learn to grow up in a world of takers, exploiters, users and yes immorality and we send them out as sheep for the slaugther, for the taking because while there are good people out there, they are sadly the minority, regardles of their outward appearance and professions. Good job my friend. Perhaps it will awaken someone fom their slumber. Best wishes and prayers,as always. Robert.

I notice God gets away scot free, while man gets all the flack. Well God made the place then he made man in his own image then after six days he clears off. Then when he looks again and see's it is in a right mess he sends his son down to be killed by the human race he created. Serious judgement calls made here don't you think. No w what message does this send out? Well it says his man management skills need a serious looking at. Also that his design has flaws each and every way you look at it. So you may as well try to put this sorry mess right yourself because no one else can.

Well, my friend, God loves His children so much that He gave us all free will and never ever forces Himself on us -- it is simply up to each one of us what road we decide to follow and looking where the world is going it is evident which road many are traveling. He (God) is all good; it is us who are imperfect but because we are so stubborn and pig-headed, we are on a road towards self-destruction in which I strongly believe that God is clearly weeping over. When God is in your heart, the message is very clear... very clear. Thanks for commenting.
