She dried her eyes as he drove
away. He was a gentleman and she knew he would never come back. She, a mother
of three, had to make a choice.
Without
a word spoken, they knew what was best.
Without
a word spoken, they strived to be moral and avoid temptation.
It
wasn’t meant to be, that’s all, it wasn’t meant to be.

Sometimes, in this we call life,
we have to make moral choices; decisions based on the difference between right
and wrong.
According to the humanists'
worldview, however, determining what is right or wrong depends solely on the
situation; sorta like, “if it feels good, do it." Consequently, personal
pleasure has become the final arbiter of morality, and our culture, which I
commonly refer to as “an anything goes society," has slowly and subliminally
given way to amorality.
Although we profess to be a nation
of moral standards, we are not.
Sixty years ago, Ingrid Bergman
was banned from Hollywood for having an extra marital affair. Today, it is
perfectly acceptable to witness two women “tongue-kissing" on prime time
television.
What’s up with that? Worse yet,
what does our “no-value system" teach our children?
Children need role models but, unfortunately, few are to be found.
Today, our children’s innocence is ravished prematurely because of our
culture’s selfishness and lack of good
choices. The moral decay within our society is quickly desensitizing our
children’s reasoning of right and wrong. Thus unravels the cycle of immorality
that will be the demise of our nation.
Our nation’s morality, or lack of,
has produced sickening results: higher percentages of crime, juvenile
delinquency, suicide, adultery, divorces, incest, and “sexual social
masturbation" (my term for casual, free sex anywhere with anyone) with each
passing year.
When I was growing up, college was
the usual goal for career preparation, whereas today, rehab seems to be the
current trend for many young adults.
And so we have evolved into “an
anything goes society."
Uh, oh, wasn’t there a place
called Sodom and Gomorrah a long, long time ago that practiced similar
depravity? Mmm, now that I think about it, I don’t think that place had a very
happy ending….
The choices we make in life does determine our future therefore it is important that
we make good, moral choices for ourselves and our children. We need to
examine the choices we are making in all areas of our life and get back to basics inviting God back into our
culture.
Most of all, we need to teach our children well… they are
our tomorrow and they need us. |
