As if going to my website repeatedly was going to provide different
results, I constantly slammed the reload button with my mouse. Like a
child holding a long time before using the bathroom, I sat squirming in
my chair with a fear of my blog's death. Maybe this horrific scene
would disappear if I sat just a certain way, or if I did a million
different virus scans. I suppose we all have to learn our lessons. I
hope that for all of my lovely loyal readers who are new to the blog
game you won't have this oops that shook my very core.
It seemed
to be a rambunctious cookie or perhaps some type of adware. I was
scared. My page would load and all of a sudden, a pop-up came from out
of nowhere.
My site - blogOOPS... with POPUPS! (Please do not smirk at blogUPS even though it is hilarious.)
Needless
to say, I was in a bit of a panic attack. I had a hard time figuring
out what to do. I ran various scans and searched online for help from
anyone and anywhere. (Perhaps not the wisest tip, considering that
could have led me into more trouble.) Unfortunately, I didn't find too
much help online. After countless hours of forever missed sleep, I
decided to eliminate ad units from my page one by one and see if any
lack of ad unit would take away the pop-ups.
JOY TO THE WORLD!
ALL THE BOYS AND GIRLS! JOY TO THE FISHES IN THE DEEP BLUE SEA! JOY TO
YOU AND blogOOPS! It is official. The answer to the oops is simple.
Start by finding out if one of your ad units is creating pop ups by
eliminating and then replacing each ad unit until you find the "one."
In my case, it was widgetbucks and it was bringing up ad.yieldx sites
and ad.yieldmanager sites.
While that may not fix it for
everyone, it is certainly where I would start if I were you. And if you
were me, you would be sitting back and enjoying a peaceful night for a
change. *Sigh*
