I just want to start by saying that even for the most experienced amongst us, the task of finding a lawyer at a moment's notice and at a time when you possibly may not be 100% mentally prepared to utilize everything that you know to make the right decision about who to hire to either defend your rights and be your quarterback in this game we call life. This process can be extremely stressful, so I have outlined a few things that I feel will help you make the right decision:

1)Do your research, you cannot rush into hiring the family lawyer just because he is thee. The case that you might be facing may require someone who is specialized in that field of practice. Not only will you have a better chance of winning your case, but you could save yourself allot of money by getting the right lawyer. Using a resource like LegalRing.com is a good start.

2)Make sure you can afford to go thru this fight. It will not help anyone if you run out of money halfway thru the trial. Your lawyer, with some very limited exceptions, can and will abandon you if you run out of cash.

3)Don't lie period. Things have a way of coming back and biting you in the back side, so be truthful with your attorney and make sure to just tell the truth to everyone. If you feel you have to exaggerate your case a little, then maybe you really don't have a case and the judge and the opposing lawyer will find those gaps, you can count on it.

4)Don't be afraid of your own lawyer. Sometimes it feels a little strange opening up and making suggestions, but this whole process is about winning a fight, and having strategies discussed is a very good thing, so talk to your lawyer about your ideas, they might make the difference in the outcome of the case.

5) Your lawyer is not your friend, he or she is your employee and he is expected to perform well, so demand from him what he demands from you, only the best. Lawyers respect the law, they have to or they will not be able to practice their chosen profession, so use that to your advantage....you just got a good guy on your side...or girl.

6)One more thing that I feel is important in the process of finding and choosing the right lawyer, is how you communicate. What this imply means is that you can actually count on your gut feeling as one more factor to help you choose the right lawyer. If you're not comfortable with the way they make you feel, just say thank you and go to www.LegalRing.com and choose another one, it's that simple.

7)although not a requirement of getting a good lawyer, but how close they are to where you live and work is very important as the face to face meeting can be far more productive than emails and faxes. So always try to find a nearby attorney that you can meet to discuss your case and fine tune your strategies.
