Fathers day is a very special day where we show our love and appreciation for the hero in our life and that being dad. It is a day of celebration, hugs, kisses and gift giving. Without dad the bread winner, our mentor, the strong body always there to give comfort to his kids where would be. However although a day recognized all over the world, we have to think of those with absent fathers, If dad has passed on then remember him in prayer or  lay flowers on his grave. I give focus upon those children that have never had the privilege of having a dad around at all. This could be due to a marriage breakdown or just where the father could not be bothered so this is when dear old mum steps in to take on the role of dad.

Not all fathers are absent through choice so bear this in mind, divorced dads at some stage may have fought a hard battle for access but became so tired that he had no fight left in him to continue. This does not indicate that his love for you died. Some dads can get a raw deal if a bitter divorce is on the cards and it can get even bitterer if kids are involved.

Not that my personal opinion counts for much but I am anti against using children as ammunition to get what you want. I say if dad is a good dad – then he should be allowed to see his children regardless of whatever the reasons for marriage split. If a father's presence proves a threat to the children's welfare then this is a horse of a different colour.

If you were adopted or abandoned by dad when you were in nappies and want to find out his whereabouts, you will need to give this some serious thought. Although your dad at the time of loving you went onto to disappear, he may have had his reasons. You have to consider things like, has he remarried, has he other children, and more importantly does he want to see you. This can all be quite harrowing stuff so you would need some body to accompany and guide you on your trail. Think things through and calm the mind if hate is the reason why you made this decision to search for dad. It is a good idea to begin your search online, by doing this you can save money and wear and tear on shoe leather. Trying to find someone can take a long time, however you could hit lucky if your background research on the missing person is in great detail. The more information betters the odds in tracking down the person. Check with mum or adoptive parents if they are okay with what you are doing, it is better to have their support than having to keep secrets that can cause much misery.

The missing you website is great place to start it offers a free instant on-line message-posting service designed to help enable people to locate missing persons, lost friends, relatives, workmates, forces pals, etc.

I found this beautiful poem to share to help give you strength

Her hair tied in a pony tail, her favorite dress with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school, and she couldn't wait to go.
But mommy tried to tell her, that it is best to stay at home.
Why the kids might not understand, if she went to school alone.

But this little girl was not afraid; she knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates of why he wasn't there today.
But still her mother worried, for her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again, she tried to keep her daughter home.

But the little girl went to school eager to tell them all.
About a dad she never sees - a dad who never calls.
There were daddies lined along the back, for everyone to meet.
Impatient children were sitting, anxious in their seats.

One by one the teacher called a student from the class.
To introduce their daddy, as seconds slowly passed.
At last the teacher called her name, every child turned to stare.
There eyes searching for a man who wasn't there.

"Where's her daddy at?" she heard a boy call out.
"She probably doesn't have one," another student dared to shout.
And from somewhere near the back, she heard a daddy say,
"Looks like another deadbeat dad, too busy to waste his day."

The words did not offend her, as she smiled up at her Mom.
And looked back at her teacher, who told her to go on.
And with hands behind her back, slowly she began to speak.
And out from the mouth of a child, came words incredibly unique.
"My Daddy couldn't be here, because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be, since this is such a special day.

And though you cannot meet him, I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy, and how much he loves me so.
He loved to tell me stories he taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses, and taught me to fly a kite.
We used to share fudge sundaes, and ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him. I'm not standing here alone.

"Cause my daddy's always with me, even though we are apart
I know because he told me, he'll forever be in my heart".
With that, her little hand reached up, and lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat, beneath her favorite dress.
And from somewhere here in the crowd of dads, her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter, who was wise beyond her years?
For she stood up for the love of a man not in her life.
Doing what was best for her, doing what was right.

And when she dropped her hand back down, staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft, but its message clear and loud.
"I love my daddy very much, he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here, but heaven's just too far.
You see he was a policeman and died just this past year. When airplanes hit the towers and taught Americans to fear.

But sometimes when I close my eyes, it's like he never went away."
And then she closed her eyes, and saw him there that day.
And to her mother's amazement, she witnessed with surprise.
A room full of daddies and children, all starting to close their eyes.
Who knows what they saw before them, who knows what they felt inside.
Perhaps for merely a second, they saw him at her side.

"I know you're with me Daddy," to the silence she called out.
And what happened next, made believers of those once filled with doubt.

Not one in that room could explain it, for each of their eyes had been closed.
But there on the desk beside her, was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.
And a child was blessed, if only for a moment, by the love of her shining star.
And given the gift of believing - that heaven is never too far.

In silent breath I say a prayer for all children with absent dads on Fathers day. God Bless.

Kacy, you have said some very important things in this article. No one can measure the loss experienced by children without fathers. One of my grandfathers became abusive when drunk and eventually left home. He sent a photograph and a loving note to his wife a few days before he was killed in a railroad accident. Of my grandmother's and his five children, my mother, the youngest, for a long time was the only one to keep her father's photo out in the open. Through the years, she respected the memory of him, what little she had, and what he might have been. She was never bitter, though I know she missed growing up without a dad at home or anywhere. Thanks for writing this and I hope many readers will share it with others.

Thank you Jane, your mum must be a very strong woman. However she still has the photo of her dad. Her dad must have been a considerate man to up and leave - so as not to cause more upset in the home - brought on by drink. So really by the sounds of it, it was not his choice but that of the horrors of drink that made him go. Dads never stop loving their kids regardless of whatever the reasons for the parting of the ways.
