We've all heard the term "self-made millionaire." It certainly sounds very impressive, does it? There's just one problem with this phrase: self-made millionaires simply don't exist.

This is perhaps the number one reason the wealthy keep making more money and everyone else continues to struggle. It may be the best kept wealth secret of millionaires.

No one can and earn and manage money on the level of a millionaire without the help of others.

Instead, millionaires are team-made. I know, because I'm a wealth coach who specializes in making millionaires. Every millionaire-in-the-making surrounds him or herself with a hand picked wealth-building team of specialized professionals. Key amongst these professionals is at least one mentor.

This mentor can be someone who's succeeded in the same line of work, a wealth coach, or even a successful person in another industry.

Finding one or more mentors is one of the best ways to successfully build your wealth quickly. Turning to someone who's done it all before can help you save a lot of time and frustration. But how do you find the right mentor for you? Here's a few pointers:

1. Communicate your ambition. Simply by talking about and sharing your vision with others, you will start to generate forward motion. You'll be surprised how many people will offer to hook you up with others who can help you.

2. Stretch with Specific Intention. Distinguish between those who are simply inspiring, and those who can specifically help you build your wealth. Your Uncle Joe may be the smartest, nicest guy in the world, but if he doesn't have at least a million dollars he won't make a good millionaire mentor.

3. Cull your resources. Consider all the people you know in every area of your life: home town, school, friends, work, your community, etc. Might any of them make a good mentor? If so, don't be afraid to pick up and the phone and simply ask them.

4. Know that the most special can be the most subtle. Don't assume that a millionaire mentor need be publicly visible or obvious. The man who lives in the gawdy mansion and drives the Porsche could easily have more debt and a lower net worth than that modest-looking real estate agent you see jogging with his dog at 10am in the middle of the week.

5. Be persuasive and persistent. Once you have your eye on a potential mentor - who will be exceptionally busy - you need to be aggressive without being annoying. A good way to do this is to always remember and respect that your potential mentor has very limited time.

6. Do not accept a scripted mentor. Someone who promises they can help anyone with money issues is not the mentor for you. What you are seeking is a personal, one-to-one mentor who will guide you based on your specific situation and goals. Stay away from anyone who reads from a script or doesn't ask you a lot of focused questions before they claim they can help you.

Finally, don't be afraid to invest in yourself. I pay several thousand dollars a month for half an hour with my billionaire mentor. I've had millionaire mentors, but now that I'm a peer, I need someone who thinks my little five million dollar deals are "cute."

Finding a mentor may happen naturally, when you're not even looking, or it may take a lot of research and interviewing before you find the right fit. But when you do find that mentor, your road to millions will be that much quicker and easier.

Wealth building is possible for anyone who learns and uses the right skills at the right time. Loral Langemeier literally creates millionaires, and she does it using a well-honed and tested system that anyone can learn. Creating sustainable wealth does not need to remain a mystery!
