Do you keep a watchful eye on the correctness of your own behavior and thoughts? We can classify ourselves and through introspection we can develop the foundation of a successful and happy life.
The first lesson on how to introspect is avoiding the insensitive habit of judging and criticizing others. An attractive woman is sitting alone having a cup of coffee. A man with a kind face walks by and in noticing her thinks to himself, "She is probably waiting for her son or daughter." The sociable type of person walks by and thinks, "She is probably waiting for her friend." As the sensual man passes by he thinks as he mentally undresses her, "She is most likely waiting for her lover or date." We have created within ourselves a state of consciousness that imposes itself on all our observations.
God has given us the privacy of thought; but do we know why? It is for us to win our internal battles in secrecy to prevent denunciation and sarcasm from other's prying curiosity. If not for those invisible walls stuck between our mental processing and those of other people, our independence of thought would be lost and we would have no peace at all in our lives. The right to receive our own blows and win our own victories could not be possible; from the expression in the eyes and faces of others it is possible to get inklings of their thoughts.
Secrecy makes life a mystery, more interesting and challenging. Many times thoughts are read properly but most frequently people leap to conclusions regarding the motives and feelings of others and make terrible mistakes. Misguided surety prematurely arises from correct hunches about the thoughts and the appearance of others. A wiser route of action would be to avert overconfidence in one's intuition through prudent caution. Spitefully judging or criticizing others shows a reflection of some character flaw often hidden within ourselves. Do not hurry to tire yourself with finding the faults in others. Get to work in changing your own to perfect yourself.
Lets say that I dare anyone reading this to get up in public and tell us all the wrongs they have done. Could they bear the humiliation they would be subjected to? Those criticized do not need the kicks of denunciation; they need our kindness above all. The way to understanding is to see, hear, and speak no evil. Some people do nothing but gossip about the faults in others and are always negative maintaining the self-deception thinking they are totally free from those three evils.
