Many pet owners will spoil their dogs by allowing them to sleep on the bed with them but this is not necessarily the healthiest most practical solution to this basic human/animal need.
Most veterinarians and professional dog trainers will agree that the best place for your dog to sleep is a dog bed of his own.
When it comes to dog beds, the choices are enormous. From luxury or designer dog beds to tempurpedic beds for dogs, you name it but a large number of eco-conscious pet owners are looking into organic dog beds for their four legged friends. The question is organic dog beds or eco-friendly "green" dog beds? I found that often sellers and manufacturers seem to confuse the two.
Organic Dog Beds
An organic dog bed should be made of all organic materials – organic meaning a material that once was a living thing, most likely a plant. For instance, a bed with a filling made of latex foam with a 100% organic cotton cover will be considered an organic bed since latex is a natural material that comes from the rubber tree.
Another organic material could be a bed made from organic cotton fabric filled with cedar shavings or organically grown buckwheat hulls.
Eco-friendly Dog Beds
Pet owners who want their pets going green and reducing their carbon "paw print" on the planet will find a vast array of eco-friendly dog beds made from recycled materials.
For instance, West Paw makes dog beds filled with their exclusive IntelliLoft fiber that is made from recycled plastic bottles. The production of this soft and plush filling, diverts over 25 tons of plastic bottles from landfills every year. Most of these beds also come covered with 100% certified organic cotton fabric. Organic cotton plus the special recycled filling make these beds hypo allergenic as well as environmentally friendly.
So will it be organic or environmentally friendly. The choice is yours.
