Now that Hillary Clinton has lost the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination to Barack Obama, is there a chance that she'll ever run for president again? Well, the answer to that question is dependent on a couple of yet-to-be-determined factors.
One of those factors is whether or not Obama defeats John McCain this November. If Obama loses, it is all but certain that Hillary will run for president again, even if Obama does not select her as his running mate this year. As soon as his loss was officially in the books, she would become the frontrunner for the 2012 Democratic presidential nomination.
Of course, this would in no way guarantee that she will be the nominee in 2012. She was the frontrunner when the current presidential campaign cycle began, only to be taken down by the previously-unknown Obama. Likewise, in 2012, there is a risk that she could be squeezed out by another fresh face like Mark Warner of Virginia.
Now, if Obama wins this fall, any future run by Hillary for the highest office in the land would depend heavily on whether he has taken her as his vice-presidential nominee. If he has, then at that point, of course, she would become vice president. Then, regardless of how Obama would do in a re-election attempt in 2012, Hillary would become the favorite to capture the nomination in 2016.
However, if Obama beats McCain in November, having selected someone other than Hillary as his running mate, the chances of her running for president again would be rendered virtually nil. The new vice president would become the heavy favorite for 2016. By Election Day in 2020, Hillary would be 73 and probably considered too old to run again.

Okay, I'm probably gonna catch some heat for saying this, but things are perceived a little differently for women. :-)

Terry, you know how to stir up interest. Beyond that, I'll not comment too much (smile). However, I like the way you ran through the many possibilities/probabilities. I'm living around the beltway too-in the lovely state of Maryland. It's hard to ignore politics around here, but I think the rest of the country cares about this election...if only everyone who does care will vote this time around! Respond to this comment
