Dogs are humans best palls, they like to be with you and are loving and loyal animals, they give you love, fun and happiness. But dogs need to be trained to become mens best mate and a good well behaved citizen. This can take a lot of perseverance, creativity and patience from your part, especially when you are a first time dog owner. Luckily there are more than enough dog training aids available that can help you to train your dog in the best, fun and quickest way. Dog training aids can give you and the dog a good time together, a time to play and learn at the same time and you will see you will be the perfect team in no time.

The first "must have" dog training aids.

Before you start buying all kinds of stuff, you probably do not need you need to do some research in training methods, the kind of training method you choose depends on the breed, the character of the dog, your own preference and what kind of dog you want. Training a dog that you will use as a guard dog or a dog that just needs to be a good companion need both different kind of training.

After you have decided this very important part you need to buy a good book or DVD about the kind of training you have chosen. This way you will learn about how you can train your dog and what dog training aids you will need. If you go for clicker training for example you need treats and a clicker and maybe some other aids and this will be completely different from the aids you need for strict obedience training.

You can also ask the help from the breeder, they often know all there is to know about the breed and what kind of training they respond well to. If you do a to aggressive training with a Labrador retriever you will probably end up with a scared and unhappy dog otherwise when you train a pit bull with a to soft hand you can create a dog that will not accept your authority and can become a danger to you and others. The breeder knows what kind of training you should choose and often knows what aids you need for it.

Where can you buy the best dog training aids.

There is a short answer to this question, online. There is so much competition in dog products that best prices can be found online. Some small cheap aids can be found in your local pet store but when it comes to training collars, leads and other expensive products the internet is the best place to look.

Got everything? Get Started

Toys and treats are the key ingredients when you start training your dog, and most dogs love to play and love treats. Your dog needs to learn certain commands, sit, stay and come are the most common ones, but there are more and you and the dog will learn them when you start training. The book you bought will come in handy now and when you have any doubt if you are doing it the right way there are always schools were you can go with your dog for some dog training classes.
