This article was motivated by a sermon from a Pastor and Ministry who were unknown to me. The message was simple and timeless. It was obvious that this Ministry actively sought to involve the youth in that congregation. The Pastor had been a Youth Pastor for many years before his call into full-time Ministry as a Pastor. This explained his effectiveness in ministering to teens and young adults. It also gave him an advantage as a Pastor to actively engage the church's youth membership.
The theme of his message was, iPray. There were larger than life models of iPods as props on either side of the platform, with iPray as the logo. How clever! Confirming the active role of the Youth Ministry was the airing of a cool commercial shown at approximately 10-12 minute intervals during the sermon. Two teenage girls, one who didn't schedule prayer time, another who did, were the participants in this commercial. That too, was highly effective.
Having viewed this sermon over two weeks ago, images of the iPods and Pastor's message have ministered to me. Each time I pick up my iPod, I am reminded of the power of prayer. My iPod is loaded with many inspirational speeches, sermons in DVD and CD formats, and of course, music. Apple has created a technology that can be used to promote "I Am God" or iGod. The Lord knows there is no disrespect meant or implied by use of the lowercase I. I desire for you to know it, as well.
Although this isn't the ministry of which I spoke, an excellent video can be found on YouTube speaking about this very subject. The minister delivers an illustrative message explaining how prayer is often viewed by the church as a body. Sadly, he is correct. Yours truly was found guilty as charged.
In everyday living situations, numerous iAffirmations have floated through my mind. Motivational and Inspirational speakers have reinforced the importance of affirming our belief aloud. Pulpits and other reverenced platforms are now broadcasting the same message. A message that began back in Genesis I in the Holy Bible. God spoke everything into existence. "And God said. . . and it was [done]."
The following iAffirmations require, action. Speaking them aloud will remind us what has to be done. Doing so can be a cure for procrastination, fear, lack of confidence and many other negative mindsets that have kept us from reaching our goals. Try saying them several times each day. It is vitally important to have balance in our lives. From praying to celebration, we can give our very best and will receive in-kind, the very best! iPods and YouTube are playing important roles in spreading the Good News. Our troops are able to receive continuous spiritual nourishment on foreign soil. Prayer is the most powerful resource and weapon we have.
Prayer changes things and is also free. These are reasons to enjoy a fervent prayer life. iPraise God for the wonders of technology that helps to support, maintain and advance His kingdom.
