3 Doors Downs first formed in 1996, when friends Brad Arnold, Matt Roberts and Todd Harrel decided to pursue a career in music. Although the group is originally from Mississippi, the band's name was concocted in Alabama, after the group spotted a defunct Alabama hotel sign, which read "Doors Down".
After several years as a group, in 2000, 3 Doors Down released their first official studio album. The Better Life was a breakthrough for the band to say the least, eventually going six times platinum and becoming the eleventh best selling album of the year 2000, moving more than 3 million units that year. The record's success was backed heavily by the success of its extremely popular power-pop singles, namely Kryptonite and Loser. The band's ability to go mainstream with their hard rock sound gave them newfound exposure to millions of fans throughout the world and turned them into power players in the music industry.
Coming off their successful debut album in 2000, 3 Doors Down have found themselves consistently meeting the expectations of producing more hit records. Since their early days, the band has released three additional albums, including their most recent self-titled release in 1998.
Fresh off the success of a new album, the band is now looking to connect with their fans on the road. The group will hit the road on a massive concert tour throughout North America, beginning in July of 2008. The concert series will see 3 Doors Down teaming up with several other great modern alternative rock acts, including Staind, Hinder and Econoline Crush, on selected dates. The tour will kick off on July 5 and will come to a close on September 21 and will feature most shows in the United States, as well as five performances in Canada.
