Political campaigns can get down right nasty. The presidential campaign of 2008 is no exception. Accusations and allegations between contenders and their supporters have spiraled into a cyclonic cloud of confusion that so blurs reality that many voters are left completely in the dark when it comes to ascertaining the truth. In our high tech world of instant messaging and e-mails every imaginable scenario can permeate the hearts and minds of untold millions of unsuspecting citizens at lightning speed with misinformation that both slanders and maligns the character of the politician. The urban legends that are conceived in this environment can so adversely affect our social dynamics as to forever change the history of our nation.

One such urban legend that has recently saturated the Internet is the allegation that Barack Obama is the Antichrist. Such a malicious and chilling accusation can easily deceive the unwary and those who have only a limited knowledge of the Bible. Does the Bible suggest that Barack Obama is the Antichrist? Let us take a look at the allegations and compare them to what the Bible says.

The urban legend alleges that Barack Obama is the Antichrist because it claims the Bible "says":

  1. The Antichrist will be in his mid 40s.
  2. The Antichrist will be a Muslim.
  3. The Antichrist will be elegant in speech.

What the Bible does NOT say about the Antichrist:

  1. The Bible does not say that the Antichrist will be in his mid 40s. As a matter of fact the Bible does not indicate any age whatsoever for the Antichrist.
  2. The Bible does not say that the Antichrist will be a Muslim. The Bible does not state any particular religion of the Antichrist.
  3. The Bible does not say that the Antichrist will be "elegant" in speech. The Bible says that the Antichrist will speak blasphemies against God.
For those whom are interested they may find more information regarding what the Bible does say about the Antichrist in the Book of Revelation. Chapter 13 is particularly helpful.

Just for the record, Barack Obama is not a Muslim. He has been a Christian for over 20 years.

Im sorry how easily fooled you people are.  Someone says he "isnt the antichrist" and you all go, oh yeah thats right he isnt.  If someone wrote a long winded explanation with quotes saying he was, you would all agree with that.  But at the end of the day only time will tell.  And it doesnt say he will blaspheme God, if your a true christian and read up on things, he will come across as loving, want world peace, say all good things about God.  Pretty much paint the picture of lets hold hands, drink a coke and sing.  Also, world disarmement, one total currency.  Ohama is of muslim origin, just because he has been a christian for 20 years doesnt mean to say he isnt true to his roots.  And lets face it folks, he's a politician, he will lie through his teeth and deny knowing his grandmother if it meant getting elected.  Wake up folks!  Coffee's on!

I heard that the Antichrist would be a guy named Dan from the UK who would try to blame some other guy by telling lies about his religion and motivations.  But then, I'm not actually basing this opinion on the Bible, so I can say anything, right??

the antichrist will come from the east... the antichrist will be gay- just look around - Obama, may be the one to usher in the antichrist  due to the fact that this country is spilt down the middle due to the color of his skin.  the people of the USA will turn against each other- that is written in the bible - we will destroy each other over the color of this mans skin. we will destroy the finacial structure, neighbors we once bbq with and sat out side to drink with, will no longer be our friends.  once we have destroyed each other, this country then and only then will the antichrist appear - he will correct the mess we made, due to the color of Obama's skin. he will put in place financial structures we tore down, he will rebuild and make friends with the USA again... for God sake people wake up save yourselfs and this great country. Obama his here so that you all may destroy each other and take us back to where we came from - slavery-  history is repeating itself and no one is watching....God is missing from schools, children are all ready disrespecting there parents, we alll have idols- money and the love of it that why we dont take the 2 week vacation we are offered...the family is broken- every home - divorce rate is up - drugs - teen pregnancy- just as many wifes are cheating on their husbands as their husbands are cheating on them  numbers are equal. we worship in t-shirts and sneakers, we show more boob's in church then we do at the beach.  we have drive by services - we dont eat dinner together as a family anymore we work 7 days a week 12 month a year - halloween generates more money than Christmas - oh yea its not Christmas anymore it is Happy Holiday-  you people are sick- we will usher in the antichrist...OBAMA - DO WHAT YOU DO AND KEEP DOING WHAT YOU DO...MY HOME IS NEAR!

Has anyone actually read and tried to understand the context of the bible when it refers to the "antichrists" it is actually a plural reference and refers to all people who are against christ in the last days (the "last days" began counting down when jesus was crucified) It just sensationalizes the term when it is taken out of context and applied to some singular man who will ultimately bring about the end of the world and scare the world into religion. I am a christian, but i am one who reads the bible for what it actually says, not what I want to hear or what is gonna sound good from the pulpit. Before you onslaught this comment with disagreements, take the time to read your bible for yourself.

This is in response to the comment made by Valerie from TX
What does worshipping in sneakers and t-shirts have to do with being a beleiver.  My opinion on that is that if you are more worried about what people wear to a church service, maybe you are there for the wrong reason. Would Jesus care more about our clothes than our hearts? I don't think so. Be glad that those sneakers, t-shirts and boobs made it there to worship. If we are all that judgemental without knowing anyones story, it's no wonder why many people can't stand Christians.

Hi Mark, thanks for sharing this information. Great points, I do hope it sends readers to Revelation chapter 13. The only thing I would add is the the Bible does say that he will be favored and well liked; it isn't until 3 1/2 years into the last 7 years (Daniel's 70th week) that he will raise up against God Almighty and proclaim himself to be God. By the way, praise the Lord for what He has done in your life and that you have allowed yourself to be used by Him to be an encouragement to others. I will be reading more of your articles. Many blessings to you! Teresa

Hi Teresa! There are many people that say that the Antichrist will be favored and well liked. And, although this may be implied to some extent it is not stated in Scripture. Scripture does say that all people will worship him. However, this is not necessarily because of his popularity, it will be a necessity if they want to buy or sell.

True, but implied nonetheless, because he is able to bring about temporary peace and will decieve many until his true colors are revealved. And then it will be too late and yes, people will be forced to take his mark to survive. What a sad day that will be, we need to be praying for the eyes of the blinded to be opened just as ours were.

From your description, I would say that it applies to George Bush, so maybe the antichrist is already here.  He certainly had deceived many people and his true colors are now being revealed each day.

Hi, Mark.  Thank you for voicing your opinion.  I am a seminary graduate and appreciate the "truth" behind your opinion.  I, personally, do not believe Obama is the anti-Christ.  I have told others that he is probably a really nice guy and is apparently very intelligent.  My fear is that Obama does not really stand for anything - Muslim or Christian.  It reminds me of the verse in the Bible that says, "They say 'peace, peace' but there is no peace."  (I am paraphrasing, of course.)  Obama simply is too green and is too inexperienced.  As with George W. Bush, I believe his inexperience will open him up to being used by those who certainly are looking for their own agenda.  Thanks, again, for your opinion and for allowing me to share mine.  BTW - I am 50, a military mom, and have voted Democrat more than I ever voted Republican.  I am one of the "swing voters" referred to that helps determine elections and I have to tell you - Obama scares me.  But, not for the reasons you voice.

I think you have misquoted the bible Marc.  What Jesus said was, "He who is not for me is against me, and he who does not gather with me, scatters."  Marc, I have never been to this site and will probably never return... I just happened to be searching for something and clicked over and read some of your comments.  I really am not bothered by yours or others opinion as to whether Obama is the anti-Christ or not, but I was very concerend with your misquoting scripture as it can take the very words of God and change the meaning. Please do not think that I mean to offend you in any way; however, you can see that there is a TREMENDOUS difference between "not being against Christ means that you are for him" versus "not being for Christ means that you are against him."  What I beleive Christ was trying to convey to a world which He loves deeply is that either we follow Him and if we do not then we are against Him by the testimony of our lives.  He clarifies even in other books of the bible the difference between hot (meaning that we truly live as if Jesus is Lord of our lives) or cold (where one openly rejects Him) and in Revelation, he says that the lukewarm "will be spit out of His mouth."  One cannot claim that since they are not against Christ that they are for him anymore than one can claim this about President Bush!  And my fear is that you or anyone else would be mislead into thinking this were so.  Perhaps you were just typing quickly and you misquoted in an innocent mistake, but I felt a responsibility to respond just in case you thought that by not claiming opposition to Jesus, one might be considered to have an allegiance to Christ.  Not so!

Lorraine, I am sorry to disappoint you, but in Mark 9:40 Jesus said, "For he who is not against us is for us."  I would appreciate any comments you may have regarding this verse. God bless you.

Okay... I stand corrected.  Christ does indeed say these words in the referenced scripture but don't you think that he is referring to any good works that are done (regardless of whether they are done in His name) are works that are done unto Him?  This confirms what Christ says in Matthew 25:35-36, right?  ... "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me..."  When we love others, our acts of love are received directly by Christ.  But that doesn't mean that anyone (Obama, me, you or anyone else) can live a middle-of-the-road life of so-called "Christianity" and mistakenly think that they are "for" God.  Please don't misunderstand, I don't want to debate anything trivial here I am just wanting to make sure that you or any of the other readers that may come across this sight may not be mistaken into thinking that no alliance with Christ will serve them well when He returns.  The Bible is very clear that you must "confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead"  then you will be saved.  And if you don't, you won't.  Mark, I'd like to ask you something but I prefer not to in the context of this website.  Is that something that would be acceptable ?  Since I am not familiar with this website, I apologize if that is out of line.  I just read your bio and was reading a couple more of your comments and I had a few questions. Is there an e-mail address that I might be able to correspond to you directly?  Thanks. Hi Mark,

What I find amazing is how people say the Bible says this or says that in order to make it sound true. If they were true Bible readers they would know that what the Bible does say, "Do not add to these words nor take away from these words written". I would state the scripture to that but, I can't think of it right now. Can you help me there? Thanks... love ya

Hi Angie, Good to see that you made it to SearchWarp. It is a fun place. Thanks for reading my article and thanks for your comments.

The Scriptures that you are referring to are stated in several locations and in several ways. Here are just some of them:

Deuteronomy 4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you.

Deuteronomy 12:32 See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

Proverbs 30:5-6
5 "Every word of God is flawless;
he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
6 Do not add to his words,
or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

Revelation 22:18-19 18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

I hope this helps. God bless you... and hope to see you real soon.

The Bible states the anti-Christ will cause people to worship (and sanction) that which is clearly unholy. That is why Obama is being likened to the Anti-Christ.  His charisma and elegant speech have caused folks (even the elect, if such is possible) to sanction blatant unholy blasphemies. Barack Obama supports ALL forms of abortion, including partial birth abortion, not just the "okay" abortions. How can any true Christian support murdering babies, even as they are being delivered from the womb? Come on, Christians, wake up!  Google the words "Partial Birth Abortion" and stop drinking the media kool-aid.  Any person who calls themselves a Christian but sits in a church that promotes multi-faceted hatred, homosexuality, and abortion is not remembering that Jesus said, "if you love Me, you will keep my commandments".   The anti-Christ will deceive many and cause people to worship the image of the beast.  This is the similarity with Obama.  Obama supporters and the media have somehow been convinced to put their morals and logic under the bus, as in a cult.

excuse me but your christian activism is what Jesus taught against. you can not sit in judgement of anyone, only God. God gives the n'eshima (breath of life) at the moment of birth so an abortion is not murder because there is no human life untill God gives it. You need to stop trying to impose your opinions on others and live and let live, that is the true christian thing to do.

So nothing is alive untill it breathes? THAT is your flawed idea? That's as ridiculous as saying that a person on a ventilator, who can't breath on their own, isn't alive. From the beginning of two cells dividing, there is life. There are many plants and animals who may appear to be "dead" but are full of life! Look at a starfish or a tree... A human being is a much more important creation of God because we were made In His Image. He loves us so much that He sent his only son down to die for our sins.

I completely agree!
Its god who gives life and takes it away. To "decide" on a life based on convince or comfort is wrong!
Based on that logic a someone could cause a woman to lose a child in an act of violence, and be merely charged with assault!

» left by Anonymous (94 days 8 hours ago.)
If God gave "breath of life" at the moment of birth, then how do you explain the conception of Jesus?  Something to think about, yes?  You are merely stating YOUR opinion.  Furthermore, a true Christian will use discernment in determining what is good as opposed to what is evil.  This is not judgment upon another, as you deem in light of political correctness, but rather a detesting of sin, because sin is what compelled man to choose a lie against truth, to grieve the spirit of God, and causing His only begotten to die.  All are sinners; all are condemned.  This is scriptural.  Except through faith in Jesus,  all are but dust.  Dust + Spirit of God (breath) = Soul.  To those who choose to call good, evil and evil, good, are deceived; "For the time is coming when people will not have patience for sound teaching but will cater to their passions and gather around themselves teachers who say whatever their ears itch to hear. Yes, they will stop listening to the truth, but will turn aside to follow myths." 2 Timothy 4:2,3.  The bible is the infallible Word of God.  Even Jesus studied scripture (Old Testament) and found refreshment.  How much more then, as sinners, do we need its life giving "breath".  God Bless.

My comment as to whether life ( real life-not legal or politically correct/socially excepted life )  begins in or out of the womb--will be to let scripture speak for itself.
"As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit nor how bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child"     Eccl. 11:5

( about John the baptist )
"For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink and he shall BE FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT  EVEN FROM HIS MOTHER'S WOMB".        Luke 1:15

» left by Sean from Woodland, CA (4 days 4 hours ago.)
I disagree with your comment about the "breath of life" being given by God at birth. As soon as the sperm meets the egg, cells begin to multiply and develop into a child. This growth and development is life just as there is life in a seed which has sprouted but not yet broken through the earth. You cannot have growth and development without life which is why your body quickly decomposes after death. Midway through the 5th week of pregnancy, a fetus already has a heart beat. This comment is not to impose my opinion on you but to give you a view from another facet which is supported by the majority of Christian theologions. I was also wondering how your snide response, in which you imposed your opinions on him, were in any way different than his?

I can't imagine that Obama supporting Abortion (as most Americans do) some how makes him the Anti-Christ.
GWB definitely has more of a case for being the A-C than Obama.  GWB invaded a country based on LIES.  Now thousands of humans are DEAD because of it.
And he is fond of stating how much of a Christian he is.....that sounds like the Anti-Christ I remember reading from Revalations.  GWB pretends to have the Word in his heart, but makes War constantly....that is the Great Deceiver my friend.

Is Satan not known as the great deceiver?

Jerry Falwell said that the anti-Christ is already born in Israel and is a Jew, just as Jesus was. Other well-known preachers say other things about the same Book of Revelations.

The Book of Revelations cannot be properly understood unless one is a scholar of Judaism, the Hebrew language and the letters of that language correspondence to numerals. What's more, St. John cannot be fully understood at all if taken out of his culture and era. The Beast is Empire, cruel and oppressive. In St John's time, the Empire was Roman. Want to guess who is the beast today? Here's a hint. We are living in it's belly.

Just think about deception for a moment. We, Americans, are so accustomed to being deceived by everything from corporate advertisement on television, radio, news papers and now the Internet, to local advertising, to government officials, etc. that we don't even wince anymore in the face of out-right lies. This is nothing new, but it is getting worse. It is deception that will be this country's down-fall, especially in the form of fear-mongering. Jesus told us not to fear. Those who would purposefully cause people to be afraid are the agents of evil, whether they accomplish that through terrorist acts, unnecessary, unjust wars, torture or through deceptive words (propaganda). Where there is perfect faith, there can be no fear. Fear-mongers are the enemies of faith.

I don't recall Jesus ever saying anything about the anti-Christ during his 3 year ministry. No where do I find that he ever mentioned homosexuality, let alone abortion and neither of those issues are new. I am not pro-abortion. I don't know anyone who is. Yet I am loath to make laws forbidding the procedure in cases where the mother's health or life is at risk or in situations where the fetus is the result of rape or incest, both of which happen far more than the general public is aware.

Obama is not the anti-christ. Devoting ones life to helping the poor and the oppressed seems more Christ-like to me than anti-christ. Like his mother before him, Obama has spent his entire adult life doing just that.

As a priest once said to me, we could do with less Christians and more people who are Christ-like. Jesus said take up your cross and follow me. I believe, and always will, that that was a call to follow in His footsteps, to be like him, to do as he did; have compassion for the poor and the disabled, for those who are oppressed and ostracized by governments and societies, as the lepers were in Jesus' day, among others.

Jesus reserved his firey criticisms for the priests of a corrupt temple (religion). I imagine he would do the same today. The Churches and pastors who are busy condemning others while building great wealth would be His prime targets, as they are doing this in His name. He taught us to forgive and to love, even our enemies. He spoke truth to corrupt power and was executed for it. Death is often the result of speaking truth to power. It isn't easy to follow Him. One must be wiling to face harsh lies and smear jobs, imprisonment or death, as oppressive empires and corrupt religion will always be with us, it seems, and will kill anyone who actually threatens the corrupt status quo.

Thank you for your insite into Gods truth. Now adays people tend to turn their backs to truth to embrace hate. People who hate will rather embrace a lie inorder to comfirm their twisted ideas and prejudice instead of seeking truth to offer light to those in the dark.

In todays world know one can speak all things to all people and be successful in fulfilling a plan to help those who can't help their self. Its as though we create a liar of a well intentioned person because that person needs to say what it takes to gain position that will enable them to help the people who need it most. Its very sad but true the American people are becoming more like the ancient cities of Soddom and Gamora. We are turning our backs on morality and love for our fellow man. We embrace a man of war instead of a man of peace and will not concidder a man who will speak truth to power for a man who will use power to enforce what he concidders to be truth. Gods word is of truth and peace not hate and prejudice.

All I can say is, we are in our last days and we need to be serious about whos side we are on in Gods world. Stop the hate, see the light , embrace God, and love your fellow man no matter the color of their skin or gender(Man or Woman)and embrace a message of peace not that of hate and lies. When it comes to gender their are no variations only "Man" or "Woman" and thats truth not hate.

I'm actually responding to Ice from NYC's comment.. what you just did is blaspheming the word of God.. what does it say in 2 Timothy 3:16?? ALL Scripture is given by inspiration of God.. you can't say one thing in the Bible is fallible because it all is then
» left by Mawsey from New York, NY (94 days 5 hours ago.)
I was so impressed with your post, Marty. What a breath of fresh air to hear values espoused, in a post about Christ, that actually resemble the standards Christ himself set by example. Whoever sits in a Church that condones, or even ignores, hatred against homosexuals, betrays the patience and forbearance inherent in the words "Judge not . . . lest ye be judged . . . ."
I would add only one thought -- anyone who REALLY would like to parse the Bible's message should learn Aramaic, not just Hebrew. Language changes over time. What we might read in Hebrew now wouldn't necessarily reveal all that was originally there in the Book of Revelations.

» left by Anonymous (94 days 4 hours ago.)
Marty from Georgia,

Well written brother. Well written indeed. Too many people take small specific items from the Bible in an attempt to validate their points. Then when their " chapter and verse" is contested, they freak out and backpedal. More often than not, try to use OTHER chapter and verse to support their views. Revelation is a PURE example of that. Tons of people quote it, barely anyone alive today UNDERSTANDS it, and those that do, usually keep their views to themselves!

For the record, Revelation is NOT part of the "Infallible Word of God". That is reserved for the four Gospels.

To the guy that put forth his view about Obama's name compared to John, Paul, etc, etc...

Those are Anglicized names man. It truly worries me that SO many people think exactly the way that guy does.

Anyway, back to Marty...

Again, great post man!

wow.. what a great way to get around the truths of revelation.. I think the same God that has the power to preserve His Word no matter what has the same power to keep it true in EVERY language..  you don't have to study Hebrew to know what Revelations is saying about the beast.. stop trying to paraphrase the Bible for your own uses

Mark,
Thanks for posting this information.  I am a Christian, and often times I feel that I have to defend what the Bible actually says against what others claim that it does.  My family is convinced that Obama is the antichrist.  While I am still undecided about my vote, to say someone is the antichrist is in my mind the worst form of defamation of character possible.  Thank you again for posting this!

The Democratic Party in general is trying to silence Christians. The party attributes great evil and hate to our motivations to live a Christ-like life. Maybe it's less about who the Anti-Christ will be and more a point of which part will put him in power.

The Democratic Party is not trying to silence Christians--we're looking for more real Christians instead of hateful fearmongers who wouldn't recognize Jesus Christ if he came and sat down in their living room.  They'd probably think he was a Democrat and claim some line in the Bible required them to spread more lies about him.

Religion is man made, so there is no right religion! Jesus is looking for a personal relationship with Him no matter what the religion. Let us not forget that God's word commands us to love your enemy as yourself. It also tells us to - "judge not, lest ye be judged," and "let he who has not sinned cast the first stone." I know we all have different opinions and theology, but I think we are stepping out of line when we judge others for what we think they say or do. I don't want to cast any stones. Shouln't we leave that up to God?

Litmus test: Pray to God for the forgiveness of your sins and receive the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Then read the book of John and the entire book of Revelation - Line upon line and ask God for inspiration. Stop taking everybody else's word for the gospel. Read the Holy Bible. That settles it.
Rev. 13: 17- 18 "...Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."

Obama is not the beast i.e antichrist. If he wants to become one, so be it. You should feel sorry for the antichrist more than you feel sorry for youself. McCain may
turn out to be the Antichrist. And by the way, who says the antichrist will come out of United States - Hey people, look to the United nations of Europe. Obama is better able to deal with the world than McCain.

Thanks for your comment. When 10% of the American population owns 90% of the wealth then maybe it is time for a redistribution of the wealth. If the top 10% could let go of only 10% of their wealth... they would still have 80% of the nation's wealth and EVERYBODY else would double their standard of living. Think about that.

It doesn't help when the current regime spends $100 Billion to the "private" military industrial complex for a war that is going nowhere.

Please tell me- How its fair for a person who has worked their tail off to earn a nice income for themselves to be forced to give it away to those who did not work near as hard?
Say a man works a full time job and runs a business on the side to earn a high income (which puts him among that top ten percent). He has to give up an extra ten percent of his income JUST because other people need it.
Why do the other people need it?
A large number do not work.
A large number work minimum wage jobs.
Now that's not to say there aren't millions of people out there who work a steady job, earn their income, and still need a wee bit more.

But is it really fair to "punish" those who work a bit more, spend more blood, sweat, tears, time to push their careers in a positive, high earning direction?

If you actually believe that, you have a twisted sense.
It's like saying "I don't earn as much money as I want. But my neighbor earns a lot. So he should give me some of him money."

What you people don't understand is the extra ten percent or so you want the "wealthy" to give up is ten percent of their time. Their work. Their life.

It's rediculous.

Hi Piper, I might be wrong, but I would imagine that you aren't one of those 10% who owns 90% of the wealth of our country. So, I really don't think you will need to worry about it. And, if you are one of the 10% you nobody is forcing you to do anything yet... that's what revolutions are for.

Obama plans to sharply increase the takes on a married couple with an income of 250k or more. Or a single person with an income of 200k.

I'd REALLY like someone...ANYONE to show us where EXACTLY does it say ANYTHING about abortion in the Old Testament, New Testament, Acts of the Apostles...OR...Revelation. Enough grandstanding, point out the EXACT places where this is coming from or keep it to yourself.

The Catechism of the Roman Catholic Faith may denounce it, HOWEVER, where in Scripture does is specifically say that aborting a fetus is against the Word of God?

Now I know this going to make a lot of people loose it, but keep calm and just put finger to keyboard and put down where in the Good Book it says it.

The Bible talks a lot about incest, onanism, lying, stealing, etc, etc, etc....

It talks a lot about what will get you into heaven and what you shouldn't do because God doesn't like it....But there are a LOT of things in those wonderfull books that people like to misquote and misinterpret. The Roman Church has put their particular slant on Christianity for 2000 years.

Have we all forgotten that there is much of the New Testament that scholars simply are NOT sure they've translated correctly? That there are words in Aramaic that have multiple meanings, and that the published Book...is their Best Educated Guess at what they have to go with???

Hey, I'm not against the Bible, nor Christians in ANY way, shape, or form. It's just grating to read Bible Thumpers preaching their views without them quoting their "Source".

If you were to do that in a Term Paper...do you think you'd be taken seriously?

“These six things doth the LORD hate; (things that flip me out and I am allowed, I am His mirror) yea, seven are an abomination unto him (of his soul).

1. A proud look (haughty eyes & arrogant)

2. A lying tongue

3. Hands that shed innocent blood

4. A heart that deviseth (plans) wicked imaginations.

5. Feet that be swift in running to mischief (evil).

6. A false witness that speaketh lies.

It never ceases to amaze me how little regard many people who oppose abortion feel over the loss of children already born. It's painful to consider the number of children maimed and killed in Iraq, for what? a misstatement about weapons? -- an urgent wish on the part of our president to wage war there? Innocent blood is innocent even if it has already been born. Unborn victims are not more innocent than victims of elective warfare. I do believe that Bush is a committed Christian, but I also wonder how he reconciles that stance with a good sleep each night.

Back to your original article  that inspired this thread, I've never heard anything in Barak Obama's statements that defy Christian principles.  There is no "anti" there.

Danny, You bring up a very good point. The epistles make reference to the spirit of Antichrist. However, he is also referred to repeatedly as an individual. I am a married father of three, a graduate of Bible seminary, and a follower of Jesus -- not just in name but in deed. I know only one girl who had an abortion several years ago, and it still haunts her. And I'm not angry but very, very saddened over the 40 million + babies murdered since Roe v Wade.
And just for the record, anyone can call themselves a Christian but that does not mean they know Jesus or the Bible. Here are His words from Matthew 7:21-23:

"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven will enter. Many will say to Me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name cast out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; DEPART FROM ME, YOU WHO PRACTICE LAWLESSNESS.'"

Notice Jesus talks about people doing things in His name.   i.e. CHRISTian.
I suspect Obama will win this election but not that he is the Anti-christ. However, he might be one of the numerous anti-christs. Consider 1 John 2:18:

"Children, it is the last hour; and just as you heard that antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have appeared; from this we know that it is the last hour."

Anyway this is getting way too long and time is short (in more ways than one) I pray daily for this country as a WHOLE: Democrats, Republicans and Independent.
Take care & God Bless.

We cannot continue to live in sin and expect the grace of God to abound in our life. We live in a time where people including confessed Christians want to violate God's word and justify it. If you deny Christ by your way of living and actions He will deny you. May God give us the spirit of repentance and obedience.

It saddens me that so many are eager to throw stones when it is evident that there is an inherant ingnorance of Mr. Obama and his beliefs. If we are to be followers of the word of Christ then who are we to judge anyone? Too many people are looking for the negative and ignoring the positive aspects of this monumental election. Barak is offering an alternative and a fresh perspective that challenges the current status quo. I guess it would appear to be the "white choice" to pick McCain (who for all intents and purposes should be in a nursing home) because he represents the same old policies of those gone before. He probably will not finish his term so it is the prospect of his VP that concerns me...What new form of political torture will emerge? And by the way, the spirit of the antichrist is already here...

I've read all the above postings & I try so hard not to weep for all the judgment calls that so many others cast about. No, I don't have a bible sitting in front of me & no, I can't quote you chapter & verse. I can't truly say that Barack Obama is either good or evil, nor can I say the same thing about John McCain. What I do know is that G.W. Bush & his regime have perpetrated the most diabolical plan of destruction ever done to a country & it's people since Adolph Hitler.

To elaborately plan & then to implement that plan & murder several thousand of his own citizens to usurp the Constitution & the bible in order to subjugate us all to his will with a false terrorist attack upon NYC, Washington D.C. & Pennsylvania is the most heinous act of true terrorism that I have personally ever witnessed in my existence.

And yet so many of you still think that it was planned out by Osama Bin Laden when he expressly stated that he had nothing to do with it three days after it occurred. No, I don't think Bin Laden is guiltless for a number of atrocities, but he none the less made an excellent target to point the blame towards to take the eyes of our country away from the real murderers, the United States Federal Government. And all that Bush needs to do to keep himself in power is to stage some kind of national emergency to negate the elections in November, thereby keeping himself in power for another four years at the very least.

Bush may not be the "Antichrist", be he is surely of the same ilk.

that is in this world. The CHRIST is the MIND of YAH. Whatever impure thoughts of men that humanity seeks to preserve against pure holiness, that is Anti-Christ in whoever it is that such impure thinking continues to exist to profane men's perceptions of the WILL, PLAN and VISION of the ONE!

Consider, what this means is that wherever and in whatever way man is subject to any LESSER CONSCIENCE, he is left subject to Anti-Christ power in that such thoughts are UNgodly, even LAWLESS!

If men all take the HOLY COVENANT to perceive it according to and founded upon their own imaginations, this is NOT a COVENANT, but LAWLESSNESS

wherein a LAW is BROKEN into MANY PIECES none of which is WHOLLY TRUE.

What ThusayetheLORD? I AM .. that I .. AM! Not as men imagine HIM to be.

However men are twisted from that the PERFECT INTEGRITY of the TRUTH as

the LORD planned from the BEGINNING, that is ANTI-CHRIST! For MESSIAH, even the ANOINTING, is the WORD, the VISION, the PLAN of the ALMIGHTY

as HE has FOREORDAINED this WORLD must again become! That is the PROMISE, even the so-called NEW COVENANT, that FIRST must ISRAEL and

JUDAH be RESTORED as ONE PEOPLE under ONE SHEPHERD as the RESTORED

LIGHT of the WORLD! A PEOPLE by ONE SPIRIT RESTORED in whose HEART/

UNDERSTANDING is NO GUILE!

It is the BLESSED RESTORED GIFT/ GRACE of the LORD that he grants the humble heart what is necessary that the minds become again ONE. This

is the healing salvation of mankind. For no man restores himself.    It is anti-christ
simply that any man would seek to establish his own idea of righteousness.

This discourse is very interesting. If we as Christians can be this animated in quoting scriptures to justify who is an antiChrist or not, we should start discussing seriously on living holy lives without which no man can see God. We should start getting serious about letting the world know we are really are Christians through our Christ-like lives. Divorce is as common in the Church as in the world. Let's get serious all around. The blood of Jesus was shed to redeem us from our sins not for us to live like foxes as far as sin is considered. Let's always reflect on the Spirit-filled life. That's our calling.

I do not believe that B.O. is the antichrist, however, I do think he is a power-hungry, racist, neophite, when it comes to running our great country. America...you don't want THAT KIND OF CHANGE! He is also a smooth-talker, that a lot of ignorant people are standing behind. He does not have the USA as his top priority. His priority is to pass his own agenda, which appears to be the support of all things African. How many times do you people have to be told to "WAKE UP!" This is not a vote for the "Class Favorite" in high school! Don't jump on the Obama bandwagon, just because it appears to be FUN. May God have Mercy on us, if Barack wins the election!! God can and will take His hand off this country, if we continue to turn our backs on HIM.

I, too, am very leery about Barak Obama. It think he is a wolf in sheep's clothing. But whatever any of our feelings and thoughts God is the One in control of all situations - always has been and always will be. Our part is to do our part as instructed in God's Word and let God do His part. I do think our country is in serious trouble. I do not vote by a party but by the candidate that most closely matches my beliefs and those that my country was founded on.
