You may want to buy a pearl necklace or bracelet for different age group of women in different occasions. And probably you may ask "what is the right size of pearl for her"? You may have an idea that all women love big size of pearls. So if you can afford paying the tremendous bill, you will buy the pearl size as big as you can for her. Well, this is not always true. In fact, a pearl strand of same quality using slightly smaller pearls is just as beautiful as that of bigger pearls. Generally speaking, women at different ages have different preferences for the size of pearls.

Even if prices are not a matter of concern for you in purchasing a pearl necklace, pearl bracelet, pearl pendant, pearl ring or pearl earrings, it really does matter for different ages of women. There is a wide variety of pearl sizes for pearl jewelry, let's focus on the size of 8.5mm and less because the majority of pearl jewelry gifts falls into this size range. As size of pearls goes up, prices will go up as well especially when you get into the extremely rare sizes of 10mm and larger. Therefore, it's really worth reading the followings as not all women like big size of pearls.

Pearl size of 5mm ~ 6mm - Suitable for young teens at the age of 12 to 16 years old. It is generally bought for young teens or a very small and thin woman . It is very popular for teenagers as gifts in Christmas, birthdays and celebrations of sweet sixteen.

Pearl size of 6mm ~ 6.5mm - Usually for older teens from 16 to 25 years old. This size of pearls is generally bought for girls at this age group. Similarly, pearl size of 6.5mm ~ 7mm is generally for 20 to 30 years old. It's very popular as a college graduation gift.

Pearl size of 7mm ~ 7.5mm - Generally for younger women 30 and up. This is the best size as a starter necklace for a younger woman. It is the necklace she wears when she first works as a career woman. It's a good choice of wedding-day gift and is also great for new mothers and any special occasion in a young woman's life such as Mother's Day, Valentine's Day and Secretary's Day.

Pearl size of 8mm ~ 8.5mm - Usually for women 35 and up. This is the largest size in the lower bracket of pearl size at affordable prices - a jump to the next size, 9mm or above, almost doubles the strand's price. It's a staple part of any woman's wardrobe; she can dress it up or dress it down. It's not so exaggerated, but it can deliver a sense of elegance - a classic jewelry for career woman. It also suits very well as a wedding-day gift or a wedding anniversary gift.

Always bear in mind, different sizes of pearls have different hierarchical meanings. You should NOT buy a necklace made of 8mm pearls for a 12-year-old girl because it should be worn by a much mature lady. And you would probably NOT want to buy the smallest pearl size for a 40-year-oild woman as this is the preference size for little girls. Appropriate sizes of pearls should always be matched with appropriate ages of women in order to exude the elegance and charms of feminine.
