Tonight I wished upon a star
That I could be there where you are
For when you wish upon a star
         Your dreams come true

I know that you want to be free
But my love why can't you see
By your side is where I should be
         Cuz I love you

I know that you've found someone new
I wish to God it wasn't true
Cuz every night I dream of you
         I truly do

So I made this wish tonight
And sent it to you by starlight
I wish it would, I wish it might
         Somehow come true

So, please believe me when I say
You're the one for whom I pray
And wish to God that soon some day
         You'll love me too
