The Grand Canyon West Rim is a natural wonder due to its beauty and sheer size, which was created through the eroding action of the Colorado River. This is a perfect place for some exploratory hikes and adventures, and experience geologic awe.

Grand Canyon West is located approximately 120 miles east of Las Vegas, Nevada, and 72 miles northwest of Kingman, Arizona. Grand Canyon West is only a 2.5 to 3-hour drive (each way) east of Las Vegas, Nevada or northwest Williams, Arizona. It is also just 4 hours from Flagstaff. From Las Vegas, visitors could drive to Grand Canyon West and back in the same amount of time it would take to go one way to Grand Canyon National Park (5.5-hour drive each way). As a result many choose to take a daytrip to Grand Canyon West rather than a multi-day trip that takes away a night on the Strip.

In taking your Grand Canyon hike, include a visit to The Indian Village which has authentic Indian dwellings where you can see depictions of different tribes and how they live. When you reach the western town, why not go shopping at the Hualapai Market, and and do horseback and wagon riding at the Hualapai Ranch? It is only in the Grand Canyon West where hikers can access the river and water recreation activities at the bottom of the canyon. By the way, the Hualapai tribe also offers an exciting one day rafting excursion through the great Grand Canyon. Rapids range from class 3-7 and ends with a wonderful surprise. What would that be? How about a helicopter tour to the very top for starter? Also available are hummer tours which are equally exciting

Helicopter rides are also exciting as visitors can view most of the canyon in breathtaking perspectives. Even without a helicopter, hikers can climb three viewpoints at the Grand Canyon West that offers magnificent views of the canyon. One interesting viewpoint is the Guano Point, named after an old mine, gathering old guano, which is actually bat droppings. The ruins of the mine and pulley system still remain and accessible.
