It is a well-known fact within the world of professional public speaking that different types of events call for different types of speakers.  For many events, a humorous approach is the best way to get, and retain, the audience's attention, for example.  That is why funny motivational speakers are often in high demand, especially for events that are supposed to be more laid-back, or for events aimed at young people, who are likely to "tune out" the speaker if they do not find him or her to be engaging.

Consider the type of event that you are sponsoring or planning when you think about the type of speaker that would be appropriate for the event.  For instance, is a motivational speaker the way that you want to go?  And if so, what will the message be?  If your group has been performing well, but you want them to retain that desire to succeed, that requires a very different message than when dealing with a group that is under-performing and needs to be inspired a bit.  Also, depending on the nature of your event, humor may be more or less appropriate, so take that into consideration.  If your event is a celebratory one, for instance, a humorous motivational speaker can help to keep the mood light, while subtly reminding everyone that they must stay motivated to continue to have success.

If you have decided that you want a motivational speaker who can induce a few laughs from your group, there are a number of ways to go about finding the best one.  First of all, remember that motivational speakers of all kinds can be quite expensive.  That means that you will want to make sure that you are hiring the right speaker for the job.  The easiest way to do this is to actually observe the speaker in action.  Most professional speakers should have videos of themselves posted on their websites, but that does not mean it will always be the case.  If you are interested in a speaker, but they have no samples of their work posted, request a video from them, so you can gauge whether they will be right for your event.

Funny motivational speakers are among the most popular public speakers of all, because they entertain the audience, all while providing an important message that can help the audience "recharge their batteries".  If your group requires just that sort of thing, look into booking a motivational speaker that can provide some humor for your event.
