I remember a few years ago I was sitting in my kitchen getting ready for work. My nephew who was only five years old at the time was talking to my sister in-law. She answered a question from him and then he replied with a question "how come?" she said, "I don't know how come" then he said, "how come you don't know how come?" I laughed but I thought about his reply "how come you don't know how come" ("why don't you know why"?)

A little poem I put together

All through our lives, we are always asking the question why

From the moment, we begin to speak our parents we leave tongue-tied

Everything is new to us - our curiosity seeks an explanation

To all the wonders in the world, - all part of God's creation

The answers we receive only lead to more questions asked

For we truly put our parents through a difficult task

Why daddy is there war, where people must die?

This question has no answers - that simply imply

As we grow older, we stop asking so many questions

Unanswered questions we replace with suggestions

Human behavior has often been explained with psychology

Although psychiatrist leave out a great deal of theology

We've all heard the expression "God works in mysterious ways"

As we go through this life - to him, we must give praise

For God is the answer to all whom seek peace of mind

Peace and love when conquered is the goal of all of mankind

David, this is so good. I loved the exchange. It's so like what things sometimes sound like at our house...between adults, too! Isn't it great? Thanks for the smiles.

David, I read this some days ago but didn't stop to comment. It's a beautiful poem. It made me reminisce about my childhood experiences and those of my siblings and friends with their kids. My nephew would always tell say: "tell me why." It drove me insane! Now I can laugh at it. Wonderful work as usual. I love your poems most. *smile*
