 All visa applicants must be present at the Application Center when making their application to have their fingerprints and digital photographs taken. All persons (except children under the age of 5, applicants for Certificates of Entitlement  to the  Right of Abode, and applicants for British Overseas Territories or Commonwealth visas, do NOT need to apply in person) appying for the UK visas must apply in person at the UK Visa Application Center.

In order to obtain a UK visitor visa, you must file an application, Visitor Form (VAF1 OCT 2007). It should take five (5) working days from application to issue, unless they request an interview at the British Embassy. Usually for a visit visa they do not require an interview, but still the applicants has to attend in person for fingerprints and digital photo.

The more information provided the better. The sponsor should provide proof of accommodation and funds (usually bank statements), plus a letter stating that he/she will responsible for the visitor in the U.K. A return air ticket and, if possible, Indonesian bank account and/or credit card details are required from the applicant.

If the sponsor is in Jakarta, it is better is he/she goes with the applicant. State clearly the reason for visit is tourist, do not mention work or study (student). It is best to apply for only six (6) months if it is the first visa.

Supporting documents checklist, the following is required:

  • Completed and signed VAF (Visitor Application Form);
  • Correct Fee;
  • Appropriate Photo. Your photograph must be: a. passport style and size 45mm high x 35mm wide;  b. a recent and true likeness, showing full face, with no hat, helmet or sunglasses, although you can wear everyday glasses; c. taken against an off-white, cream or light grey background so that your features are clearly distinguishable against the background; d. printed on low-gloss, plain white photo-quality paper with no watermarks or embossing. Photographs that do not conforms to these standards will be rejected and may cause a delay in processing your application;
  • Letter from sponsor/invitation letter;
  • Evidence of sponsor's immigration status in the UK (This is can be copy of passpor and driving license);
  • Evidence of applicant's own finances (for example bank documents, statements dating back at least six months);
  • Evidence of applicant's employment and leave;
  • Family card/Marriage Certificate/Birth Certificate;
  • Evidence of sponsor's funds (bank statement for six months);
  • Parental consent where child is under 18 and not travelling with mother/father;
  • Evidence of wedding in UK, provisional booking/reception/guest list, etc (for marriage visit only);
  • Travel itinerary/booking;
  • One (1) coopy of passport's photo page.
  • Ensure you submit all relevant documents. It is better to explain why you do not have a document than to submit a false document in its place. If you submit a false document it will adversely affect your application and your details and the documents may be passed to law enforcement agencies in Indonesia.
